Huh, The Simpsons would use a plot similar to Hirschel's Hair in Treehouse of Horror IX. Apparently a 1986 episode of something called "Amazing Stories" did the same. This one's transformation is a unique twist though.

The story “Portrait of Death” is an uncredited ripoff of “Pickman’s Models” by HP Lovecraft.
