After the first story, it looks like the letterer sprained his wrist--the lettering is terrible for the rest of the book (and the first several stories of the next issue).

I don't know what was going on, but this same letterer did a number of books at the time Charlton inherited a bunch of Fawcett leftovers. Was there a connection? Maybe there was no decent letterer available in Derby, Connecticut at this particular time.
