Has anybody ever thought of fixing up a glossary of some of the terms used in these stories? American readers, who are not au courant with the traditions of the British Public Schools, might wonder about the use of "fag" as a verb, or why one group of students is called "the Remove". Americans haven't grown up with this kind of story since the days of Frank Merriwell. And the last attempt to revive that character (a 1940's radio series) was heavily cloaked in nostalgia. A glossary would help those of us gormless Yanks who might want to read a kind of fiction that was a decided influence on the likes of J. K. Rowling.

Another fine tale of Harry Warton's struggle to come to terms with life at Greyfriars with more hard lessons to be learned. This episode sees the arrival of one of the most famous characters Bob Cherry. It's interesting to note that in these early comics some of the characters are very different from the versions portrayed in the later stories. For example Billy Bunter in this story is really quite a pleasant fellow who's comedy value lies in his short sightedness rather than as the untruthful anti-hero of later years. This episode features the slippery character Hazeldene and George Bulstrode the bully of the Remove.
