SynopsisGovernment office worker Kay is engaged to engineer Roy, but he keeps postponing their wedding. They have even picked out a house, but Roy’s father falls ill and Roy gives his parents the money he’d saved for the down payment. Roy says marriage will have to wait. Kay’s friend sets up a date for her with Michael. Roy catches them and breaks their engagement. When Kay refuses to wed Michael, he tries to kill them both, but fails. Roy apologizes for his insecurity and he and Kay reconcile.

SynopsisCarol’s roommate Mildred signs them up to be “party girls” who escort businessmen in town for conventions. Carol is outraged when private detective Phil suspects her of fleecing the men she’s paid to escort, but she and Phil eventually fall in love. When Phil breaks a date on Carol’s birthday, she accompanies Mildred to another “party girl” affair. A man gets fresh and Carol pushes him away—the man falls to the ground, dead. Phil stands up for her and Carol is cleared when it’s determined the victim had a heart attack.

SynopsisArlene is secretary-companion to the wealthy Mrs. Dudley and loves Earle, her employer’s nephew. Mrs. Dudley claims Earle is a “snob” and a “leech,” but Arlene doesn’t believe it. At Sun Valley, she meets the wealthy Kirk but immediately leaves for Palm Beach. Kirk follows Arlene to Palm Beach, claiming he loves her. Mrs. Dudley and Arlene sail for Italy; Arlene learns she’ll inherit her employer’s fortune and that’s why Earle has been so interested in her. Kirk shows up on the ship and convinces Arlene to marry him.

SynopsisDrusilla agrees to marry Jerry, then discovers he loves Betty and is just using her to get a job on her father’s newspaper. Drusilla waits until the day of the wedding to break the engagement and gets a bad reputation in town as a result. Drusilla falls in love with Tony and they plan to wed. However, she learns Jerry committed suicide and she’s being blamed. Tony reveals that he’s Jerry’s half-brother and has been planning to jilt Drusilla in revenge. Drusilla shows up at the ceremony and Tony appears—he found a letter clearing Drusilla, and will marry her after all.
