I'm glad you guys could finally put these up. I've been waiting to see them so I can compare them with the newspaper strip by Neal Adams (who does a near perfect job). The other artists on previous issues do a fairly okay version of Casey, but Gene Colan really kicks it up a notch.
I remember when this series was on, there was a debate among my older sisters and their friends who was hotter--Dr. Kildare or Ben Casey. Kildare had good looks, but Ben Casey was more brooding.
But what I remember watching the TV show was Ben Casey's arm hair. Vince Edwards was hairy like an ape! That freaked me out. Colan gets it--and suggests Ben Casey's hairy arms--but not as hairy as the real thing. Way to go Gene! |
