Jim Solar, Space Sheriff was the creation of Walter Gibson (creator of the Shadow) and artist E.C. Stoner (Stoner notable for being an early African-American comic book artist; he did work on a variety of titles during the Golden Age, including Blue Beetle, Blackstone Master Magician Comics, Green Mask, and more). The Wisco/Klarer Comic Books (which included the Jim Solar line) were a promotional giveaway distributed by a variety of merchants including Wisco "99" Service Stations, Carnation Malted Milk, Klarer Health Wieners, Fleers Dubble Bubble Gum, Rodeo All-Meat Wieners, Perfect Potato Chips, & others.
