NotesPocket library. 1954. The cover and ifc are replacements that I had to find as the original was in tatters. Art by Septimus Scott. Identified by the eagle eyed crashryan, but contested by mortimer.Cover art by George Cattermole.

Great artwork on this book. That's Septimus Scott, right? Lots of fun; thanks for posting.

The artwork is not by the great Septimus E Scott. It's by Philip Mendoza (first and last pages) and another (unidentified) artist, possibly European. Unfortunately, Scott never drew a Musketeers strip. But he did paint the cover for TCL No81 "The New Adventures of the Three Musketeers" (Feb 1955). The excellent cover for this issue - based on a still of Douglas Fairbanks in "The Iron Mask" (1929) - was painted by George Cattermole. (David Ashford & Steve Holland: "The Fleetway Picture Library Index Volume 2: The Thriller Libraries" • Book Palace Books, London 2010). However, the IFC b&w advert for "The Covered Wagon" does show Sep E Scott's cover art for that title. (Issue date: 4 Nov 1954.)

Excellent! Many thanks for putting this on the site. Love these old pocket libraries, especially the westerns. Robin Hood, Musketeers etc from the Thriller Picture Library. Any others would be very welcome.
