Fontaine Fox' single panel gag strip, July 31 -August 24, 1935. This was a series about the inhabitants of a suburban/rural town, serviced by the Toonerville Trolley. It inspired a few movies, including at least one with Mickey Rooney playing Mickey McGuire, and was collected into several books. It was one of the few successful strips that ended with the retirement of its artist, rather than being continued by others.
