The Aldrich Family is a peculiar case, in my opinion, of a OTR comedy series that doesn't try unnecessarily to be funny all the time. Hence the absence of the "background laughter" throughout the show. You won't find yourself laughing during your listening, but surely you'll be entertained, and won't regret the time as wasted. Much more "light-hearted" than properly funny. But it's not a flaw whatsoever. It's a typical show, showing the "typical" american family of the 40's. I say "typical" because it's pretty much the idealized family, living the american way...without major problems, coping with their little setbacks of the daily life, and nonetheless happy. Enjoy it as it really is....a silly – notwithstanding, a very entertaining little show.
