There are items like this that make you realise this is the best site on the internet. Thrown up by Random 12 today is the first part of this classic adventure from much under-rated Romanian sci-fi author Octavian Sava (real-name Segal or Segall) His first sci-fi adventure, Golden Meteorite was a massive hit and led the way to a career in film and TV for Octavian in the sixties. It’s a Jules Verne/Rider Haggard type adventure set in 1910 where our hero Ion Spineanu forms part of an expedition to follow in the footsteps of British Colonel Arthur Smith. The Colonel disappeared as he sought to track down a golden meteorite that has fallen in the dark jungles of the Belgian Congo. The natives believe the area to be cursed but led by an old Zulu guide, they find their way to the core and discover (in a Marlon Brando moment) that Smith has gone mad and is now leader of the tribe of pygmies who guard the meteorite……
