NotesThis version of CMJ appeared in the Belgian magazine Bravo in 1950, when they bought rights from Fawcett to produce new stories. Uderzo art. I have no idea who scanned this or where it came from as I have lost my notes. If anyone can claim scanning rights or knows the source, please let us know so the attribution can be altered.

To top off the intercontinental influences, the villain is Lev Gleason's Mr Crime!

Great stuff here Paw. I wish there was more. I'd love to see other characters that he worked on. Interesting take on Jr. Almost an alternate reality version of him. Thanks for sharing. Richard AkA Mr_Goldenage

If you want to see other characters that Uderzo worked on, go find some Asterix the Gaul books. I vaguely recall having heard of this before, but that doesn't make this any less mind blowing. Asterix and Uderzo aren't that well known in the US, but it's almost impossible to overstate how important they are worldwide. I'm trying to come up with some comparison to convey just how weird and wonderful a find like this is, but nothing is coming to mind in US terms.

Great !!!! thanks a lot for this one ! AL UDERZO = Albert UDERZO le dessinateur d'ASTERIX le gaulois ( entre autre), Bande dessinée bien connue des francophones ! merci Anacho (BdmagExhumator)

The only French word I know is: Malheur (Misfortune, Mishap), because this word was adopted exactly in the German language. :-) This comic is certainly not a mishap, rather a very interesting comic document. I would not have recognized Uderzo based on the drawing style. Other comics that were published in the Belgian magazine Bravo are for example Ivanhoe, Flash Gordon, and Felix the Cat.

Why do we lose the right to view the bulk of 75+ year old Fawcett Funny Animals books, just because they contain Hoppy The Marvel Bunny, but these Capptain Marvel Jr. vignettes are NOT taken away from us? Despite being much closer to Captain Marvel? Why can't we, at least see the non-Hoppy stories? And what money is DC really making from Hoppy in any case? Is that really worth depriving fans of Golden Age classic funny animal comics of most of a classic comic book run?
