| Notes | No strip stories in this very early annual, but the text stories are very well illustrated. From 1927, these annuals were being produced by an almost totally male team who wrote under female nom-de-plumes! The only female contributors in later years were V. Gaskell and Evelyn Flinders, two of the artists who supplied illustrations for the stories. ( I'm not quite certain regarding the illustrations in this particular 1947 annual though- perhaps someone could let me know? ) It is interesting to note that the School Friend Annual was still being published in the 1980's- long after the weekly comic had been discontinued. | |||
