SynopsisRuth, raised by her mother after her father’s death, demonstrates an “ungovernable temper.” Ruth’s mother introduces her to Edwin, the son of an old friend, and the two young people fall in love despite resenting their mothers' matchmaking. One day Ruth’s father returns: he has been in a mental hospital for years. Fearing she’s inherited his mental illness, Ruth breaks up with Edwin, has a nervous breakdown and is sent to a hospital. Dr. Paige says she’s a “disturbed case” but not “genuinely insane.” After therapy, Ruth is released and will now marry Edwin.

Donna realizes she loves Dan and reveals the truth about her background to the press. Greg is upset but Dan shows up and punches him. Donna and Dan reconcile.
