NotesIt appears that Fox had planned a Patoruzu comic but changed their mind. They had lots of covers printed. It looks like Green Publishing bought up stock from a printer. They merged the Patoruzu covers with "left over" comics. This issue is Animal Crackers 31 missing the first page. Other comics known are From Here to Insanity 10 and an undistributed Animal Crackers that was reprinted in Leo the Lion 1.

How utterly bizarre.

Let me get this straight. Patoruzú was an incredibly popular Argentine comic which had been around since the 1920s. And in 1946 Fox planned to do a comic with him? Got as far as printing the covers, then stopped? This is a weird story even for Fox.

The inside pages to this comic book are actually from "Animal Crackers" # 9, rather than # 31. Fox DID have the inside pages to the planned Patoruzu book, but never issued it. But, in 1957, Green Publishing after having purchased the printing plates from the printer, issued a 36-page comic book, under the cover of All Top's old issue #3 cover, re-numbered as #6. The 30 pages of Patoruzu came from Argentinian newspaper strip panels, cut individually, and placed loosely over the pages, separated from each other by blank page space. They had been translated into English. A short 5-page filler story at the end of the book is untitled. It is slapstick comedy about a little old man. Getting the Patoruzu pages, and placing the Patoruzu cover in front, as the book was intended is defintely worth having. You can download the Patoruzu inside pages from CB+ under Small publishers, Green Publishing, "All Top Comics #6". Enjoy it!
