On the surface, Jake and Pete are hauling in loads of fish on their boat The Reaper, when Captain Bob reports that the fathometer is acting up again. The instrument is showing something big below them, where there shouldn't be anything. Nearby, a pleasure cruiser with two men aboard are scheduled to rendezvous with the submarine to smuggle packages of microfilm to the sub's crew.
