NotesThe Star Coloring book has the size and numbering and even the ads of a comic book. It does not have any stories though. It is a rhyme for each letter of the alphabet to promote safety. The book is actually a hoot (as they would have said in 1953). Especially love page 32. Narfstar scans

If you haven't guessed I am writing these while I read. Narf you are right about 32 - I think it is the tomato juice can that does it for me somehow.

B stands for BICYCLE; Take care as you go, Don't try and do tricks That you saw in the show.
C is for CLIMBING, a most dangerous sport Stay on the ground and Avoid the doctor's report.
D is for DANGER In those caves that you make. The sides may seem safe But the strength may be fake.
E stands for EYES Which you use every day To watch out for danger At work and at play
F stands for FATHER, Who knows best, you see; He says "hang on tightly When climbing a tree."
G is for "GOOF" Who likes strange places to play If he climbs on the roof, He'll regret it some day.
H stands for HIKING; Be cautious and careful at each turn or bend, It's no fun waiting While small bones mend.
I stands for "IDIOT," The child who will play With matches and fire When mother's away.
J is for JUMP, But watch where you land; Rocks can be dangerous, So use pies of sand.
K stands for KETTLE, So boiling and hot; It's steam sends a warning, It says - "Touch me not!"
L stands for LADDERS; They seem safe enough, But they may come down When the wind gives a puff.
M is for MOTHER, Who loves you a lot, Don't get in her way When she carries things hot.
N is for NOTICING Warning signs of all kinds; Avoid all types of danger That come into minds.
O is tor OBEDIENT, And this you must be To your parents who teach you Lurking danger to see.
P stands for PINS; Don't hold 'tween your lips, You'll get very sick If one of them slips.
Q is for QUICK-WITTED And he mentally alert, Be on your toes And many hazards avert.
R is for RIDE-HOOKING; There's a chance that you'll fall, So stay on the sidewalk, That's the best rule of all.
S is for SWIMMING, We all think it grand; But, until you know how, Have Dad hold your hand.
T stands for TOYS; Accidents they can cause. Put all playthings away, And bring rounds of applause.
U is for UNDERSTANDING The things that you're taught; Never touch any wires Or you'll end up in a cot.
V stands for VICTIM, And this is no fun; Don't touch pills or bottles, You'll be safer, my son.
W is for WINDOW; When you're looking out, Hang on to something That is firm and is stout.
X stands for X-RAY, A magic lantern so new; Watch your step carefully Or they'll use it on you.
Y stands for YOUNGSTERS Who shun electric cords; Health, strength and safety, Will be their rewards.
Z stands for ZANY, An acrobat or a fool; Don't take any chances Or show off in the pool.
We always like to see a parade, The colour and music so loudly played, Stay close to mother and hold her hand, Don't run down the street, to follow the band.
Many animals are gentle things, For heavy work and hunting; But don't walk up too near a goat Or you may receive a bunting.
Throwing rocks may be all right When no-one's round about, But people sometimes walk in range Of flying stones and get knocked out.
A fire is fascinating, The flames are nice to see, But never, never play with it Or sorry you will be.
This book is written by Willy and Wendy fo teach little children the right from the wrong! So, tots of all ages - colour the pages And obey safety rules to keep healthy and strong.
