Wow. This is great stuff! A wonderful story, great art, and more importantly, great storytelling within the confines of the comic strip format!

The artwork is phenomenal right down the posing. I have to say the last few pages of this one have me confused. She exclaimed in front of the guy what her plan was, then he takes her back. It seems like Adam is happy to stick her on that dumb Professor or that the strip's logic keeps changing from panel to panel.

I never knew Lou Fine did a comic strip. Even though he drew in the popular style of the day, it's well done.

We forget that, for that generation of cartoonists, having your own Newspaper strip was the ultimate goal. Unfortunately, the strips were on the way out by the 50s' so many of them never made it. This narrative is such that it is hard at first to figure out what kind of strip it was intended to be. The resolution of the first arc implies that 'Adam' was intended as a sort of male Mary Worth. This genre of Strip is obviously intended primarily for a female audience, like Stan Drakes' Juliet Jones but with a male figurehead. Beautiful Art and storytelling, but an oddity. Added Later: The fact that Adam is an artist gives the narrative a subtext I think. So we get monologues like this, ' People regard artists as talented idiots - to be guarded against the outside world as though they couldn't be trusted to lead their own lives. What they don't suspect - is that we lose ourselves in our work - create our own world out of canvas, pigments and inspiration'

You know what, this was really good. Not only the excellent pencils with all that detail, development, character and composition but also the story (allowing for the occasional need for a quick jump in direction due to the constraints of a three-panel strip). Well done Mr Lou Fine - a fine piece of work!
