Time to retire my evil twin, frEEdyfly, and return to normal, with:
my last 5 Sparklers: #6 (damaged, chewed upper corners :( , but complete), and 17, 20, 22 & 23 - all missing a wrap.
And, all without everybody's favorite couple - Nancy & Tarzan, as usual.
I'm not going to add the post-SparkGuy issues since he was replaced by a non-PD strip - Lil Abner, so that means omitting 3 stories.
I might compile the Abbie&Slats stories (one of the reasons I collect the series).

There are a few later issues that have only one non-PD strip - Nancy.
I've upped 2 tonight - 88 & 89.
The only other stories other than one-pagers are Abbie & Slats and Captain & the Kids

Spakler 57 up'd tonight. It's the first with Li'l Abner (replaced Broncho Bill), so Three stories are deleted, but it's also the last appearance of The Spark Man - a reprint of an early Superhero-version story.

How great to see these Sparkler Comics gems again! Shame about the necessary omissions due to the copyright restrictions, but the characters and strips remaining make for a hugely entertaining read. I've been collecting & scanning them for a long time (and grabbing a bunch from dc++), but dcm didn't accept them and I didn't know CB+ did. I have a few more late (Casey) issues to pass on from dc++, but I'm finished after that until I buy more.
[disclaimer: I do have several issues in the post-Sparkie, pre-Casey period, but with 3 non-PD strips (Tarz,Abner,Nan), there isn't much left to upload here.]
Another UFS title you could add for me to upload to is Tip Top. The contents are similar to Sparkman except in his place it has Triple Terror and Mirror Man (from #54 to 119).

Hey, gang... nobody responded to my question about creating a sub-section for Tip Top Comics (United features), so I've upped two issues to the main section = #s 119 & 150

Good going Mark. Glad to see USF in the main section. I have a few Tip Tops I can scan some time in the future (busy with my Smith Street Project <Thanks Narf!> and other CB+ related deeds. Love their quirky superheroes Mirror Man, Spark-Man, and the Triple Terror just to name a few.... thanks again,,,, any idea on the Miss Fury # 8 yet?

A Tip Top pair tonight:
#78 from dc++, and #108 from my overheated scanner. Abner & Nancie dumped as always (for both comics, Nan was on 5or6 half-pages so I removed only those halves, leaving 5or6 Fritzie half-pages).
I noticed my upload yesterday of an upgraded Tip Top 119 hasn't yet been added. Is it ok?

It's missing the cover (so no ifc,ibc,bc) and outer wrap: CapKids pg1-2, and last two Abner pgs (which would be omitted anyway).

Tonight, starting my series of five 1943 Tip Tops, all incomplete (aside from the omitted non-PD pages), with #92!. It's missing one internal page with Cap & The Kids on both sides. Abner and six Nancii half-pages also dropped.

This is another of those short-term 56-pagers with the d@mned single-pages stuck in the front half of the comic, that regularly fall out and are lost. This time 2 are missing, but one is an Abner page so it wouldn't be allowed anyway, so the only extra missing scans are the 2 sides of a Capt&Kids page.

Hi, I found a new batch of other people's Tip Tops I can add, and I did #10 & 26 tonight,
BUT PLEASE DON"T ADD THE #8 I upped! It turned out to be #12 (every story ends with a note that says it's continued in #13).
So, I'll re-do it tomorrow with correct covers.

I have Tip Top issue #'s 68, 97 & 99. I see 68 is already scanned. My copies of 97 & 99 are in poor condition but if needed I could scan them when I have time (still looking for work). I have some Super Comics and Popular Comics too I need to scan.

Tonight, starting a new series of Fritzi Ritz / United Comics.
It's in 2 parts:
internet finds (mainly from dc++): #s 36(minus Abner) and 51(minus Nancee), and three c2cees: #s 3, 4 & 5 (I hope #5 got upped... I had a connection glitch... if it didn't, I'll try again tomorrow).
And my own scans, starting with #s 7 (c2c!) & 23 (Peanuts- & GMO- & gluten-free!)
(I just realized #23 is a United, not a Fritzi, so I upped it to the wrong section :'( :( )
(plus I named the file fritziRitz23...)

Tonight, from DC++: All four Dell Fritzi Ritzies (and the last 4 of the entire run) -- #s 56-59 (they need a new section). The last 3 have 4 Peanuts pages removed.
Also, a correction to the Publication History of the Fritzi Ritz (United Features) section is needed.
It currently says only " Dates: 1949 - 1949 "
but, it should say something like:
" Issues: 15 -- Sequence: #3-#7; #27-#36 -- Dates: 1949; 1953-54 "; continues with St. John series (1955) #37-#55

Tonight, the first of 3 early incomplete Tip Tops - #23. Abner removed, and the Tarzan pages were cut out anyway.
Also, it's missing the cover & outer wrap (Capt & Kids pgs 1-2, and Tarzan & an ad at the back) so the fc is from HAG.
I've included tilted pix (from eBay, with fingers) of the back cover plus 2-page spreads of the ifc+page1, and page64+ibc.

I noticed the improvement in the UFS Fritzi section info, but there are still some problems. It now says:
Issues: 15 | Sequence: #3 - #36 | Dates: 1949 - 1954
But, it's a 2-part run: issues 3-7 (1949) and 27-36 (1953-54); the in-between issues are officially titled United Comics and are in a separate section.
So, the info line shoud be:
Issues: 15 | Sequence: #3-#7; #27-#36 | Dates: 1949; 1953-54
[Or, you could combine the whole run, Fritzi+United, and have:
Issues: 34 | Sequence: #3 - #36 | Dates: 1949 - 1954]

The way the program is set up, you have a start and a finish, it doesn't allow for start, break, skip numbers and start again, then finish

Scanned from a coverless issue also missing 3 outer wraps.
The fc is from HAG; no ifc ,ibc or bc.
This time, both Tarzan and Li'l Abner were part of the outer 3 wraps, so only maybe 2 other pages are missing, and you get 53 of 68 pages.

Back to Sparklers!
Tonight, starting a trio of quartets, with the first: #s 61, 62, 64 & 67.
These will All be from the post-Sparkman era, with three removed non-PD strips: Abner, Tarzan & Nancy.
The first 3 are 48-pagers, but the 4th was only 32 pages, so all you get here at CB+ is 10 pages :'( : a Captain & Kids stroy and 5 filler pages!
Help: I know there's one typo in my description of 61 (& maybe 62): the word 'only' came out something like 'ply'.
And, in the desc of 64 it should say 'only 26 of 48 pages remain, not '33 of 48'.

I spoke too soon. My own UFS scans are done, but i have 5 more UFS 'internet finds', upped tonight:
Okay Comics #1 (all-Cap&Kids; ctc):
United Comics #10 (ctc);
Sparkler Vol1 #1 (all- Jim Hardy; ctc) [note: this is the first of two single-feature 1940 Volume-1 issues; I put it in the Sparkler section, but you might want it in a separate section, or in the one-shots).
And the first two (#s 1 & 2) of a new (for CB+) title: SPARKLE Comics, so you'll need a new section. After SPARKLER went bi-monthly (with #83), the new title appeared in the alternate months. At first, it was 52 pages and featured Ella Cinders along with the UFS regulars (Nancy & Abner omitted, of course), but after a few issues, it became 36 pages, with very little beyond the non-PDs.
(#2 is also missing the ifc,ibc and one internal page)

I've upped a single file containing the PD pages of 5 Tip Tops: 171,172,176,178,181.
Starting sometime after Tip Top became a 32(36)page comic, only 3 features remained: Nancy, Cap&Kids, and one drama/adventure strip (like Curly Kayoe, Broncho Bill, Abbie & Slats).
Tarzan was the third strip starting with #171, until the end of the UFS run - #188.
So... half those comics are non-PD, leaving only C&K, covers, ads and fillers.
So... I've combined my 5 scans of the PD pages into one file. If this is ok (and worth doing), I can dig up other scans that are available, and combine them with mine so that the files are in order (maybe, eventually, 3 batches of 6 files to cover the 18 Tarzan issues).

Tonight it's a partial copy from an old upload. The 1944 Jim Hardy special issue has reprints of the first several Triple Terror & Mirror Man stories, and since Tip Top 54, which has their origin stories, isn't available, I copied those 2 stories and added a Tip Top 54 cover.

I want to thank Mr. fly for uploading so many of the United Features comics. I am on a personal quest to read every single Fritzi Ritz page that I can manage to glue my eyeballs to, and to that end freddyfly's efforts in uploading these comics has been a great boon to me.
It's very odd that certain of the Fritzi Ritz Sunday strips are actually Nancy strips in all but the title panel which says "Fritzi Ritz by Ernie Bushmiller" -- i.e., Fritzi does not appear in certain strips at all, the entire 1/2-page being devoted to Nancy's antics. I gather these are reprinted from the part of the strip's run just before Phil Fumble's strip was cancelled and replaced by Nancy's own self-titled Sunday strip (since they entirely disappear after the non-PD NANCY Sunday strips have been removed). So it's a little weird that Fritzi's strip is in public domain, even though some of those strips feature Nancy, and ONLY Nancy, as a character... but the title panel still says FRITZI RITZ. I don't know, I still think Phil Fumble got the better part of the deal, since he got to become Fritzi's steady boyfriend as a consolation for getting booted out of his own strip by a little kid.
Not to be disingenuous, but who wants to look at Nancy when you can look at Fritzi? Rrowr!!

I am guessing you are using firefox? If not what browser? Also what version please.
I used the outage as an opportunity to upgrade a few things on the site one is to make it use securer connections (https)
So this is most certainly related to that. I have uploaded OK with chrome and uploads are coming in. So we need to figure out why you are having probs.
We need your uploads!

As a matter of interest, I use Firefox [#64.0.2 (64-bit)] regularly to interact with CB+ and have had no significant problems either before or after the outage.

Well, I don't know if you guys did anything, or maybe it was some cosmic rays flipping a few bits, but I was able to upload a file that I've been trying to for a couple of weeks. I found a large stash of The Funnies scans that are missing from cb+ (tonight's is #40). I'm working on converting them to .cbz format.
And, yes, I use Firefox, but it's an older version (48.0.2)

I have done a little bit of tinkering ... but not any that should suddenly make the upload work ... The outage itself was just a switch off and then back on ...
The bits I did was move 1/2 the site (the images mainly) to another machine and alter the site to https. To make it more secure

After that one successful day, I was back to failed uploads the past 2 days, so I dug into firefox's error messages & found a solution:
Turns out it was your switch to https and my antivirus (avast) not getting along. I have to disable Avast's 'web shield' temporarily to upload. It seems your security software is too new for my old firefox, and Avast blocks access.... apparently only some of the time; why I was able to upload 2 days ago is a total mystery (solar flares?).
So..........., for today:
Rocky Lane 12 now upped!
and... another The Funnies - #38!

Today it's another Captain & Kids 'special issue' - Fall 1948. The other one was a 50th-Anniversary special published in early 1948; still missing is the Summer 'special issue'.
If you want, all 3 can be considered one series and put in their own section rather than with the one-shots.
Or, they could even be considered #s 13-15 and go with the regular run that began in 1949 with #16.

Thanks for all your uploading, this time, especially for Peter Rabbit 32; & CowboysInjuns 7. As a funny animal fan, I've been looking for both of those for several (many) years. I look forward to more of your uploads of funny animal and cartoony-style comedy comics. Keep up the good work. I also upload a few comic books that
haven't been uploaded by others. I could have uploaded about 25 Giggle and Ha Ha Comics, but Conan has mint copies of all of them, so I held off, and now I'm only waiting for his last 3 batches of Ha Ha.
After Ha Ha is completed, I'll only be missing 4 Coo Coo Comics, 4 Ribtickler, 6 Wotalife, 3 Cosmo Cat, 3 Jo-Jo, 6 Fawcett's Funny Animals (but 3 of those aren't PD), 4 Holiday Comics, 3 Fun Comics, 4 Frisky Animals, as far as needing more than 2 books in any 1940s or 1950s US funny animal series. Do you have any books from these titles that you plan to upload soon, or can be uploaded in the near future?

I keep trying but I still can't upload anything! I keep getting this:

This is a standard message when things don't get through a server. It is not necessarily literally true.
And the message may not be generated by a server.
Don't know what you can do other than contact your ISP about the problem.
It might help to go through the upload process through another browser. Sometimes the browser will prevent things getting through.
Also, do you have a firewall or are you using Mircrosoft defender. Sometimes anti-virus and firewalls AI make unasked decisions to block certain things and you have then to uncheck their list of permissions.
A quick solution. Send your intended uploads to somebody else in Admin in CB+ and get them to do the upload.
I would be surprised if they don't get through that way.

while I still use Firefox, I have found it more and more unreliable. I currently have many troubles downloading through Firefox.
I do most of my firesharing on Waterfox. I find it much more reliable.

I realized after I wrote yesterday, that my current new scans can't be offered here, but I upped one just now (with a note not to add it to the site) and all went well, so i guess the problem is solved.
Do you have any idea what caused it?

I suspect it was to do with ads. Recently, Google introduced a horrible "anchor ad" which appeared fixed right at the bottom.
I hated it ... BUT the revenue was really excellent. I had a gut feeling it was the source of the issue, however searching I could find no one else experiencing problems. But I disabled it and am sure it is the culprit.
So although the site is poorer, it looks and works better :) Hoorah!

I found the Jiggs&Maggie Nedor section & upped issue #15.
It was a bit tricky -- it didn't show up on the main comics page, I guess because it was empty, but it is in the drop-down list when I choose where to upload a file.
I also upped issue #25 - a Harvey issue (#s 22-27), but there was no sub-section, so it's in the main Harvey section.

Also, your upload of 57 was 60, and the uploads of 59, 61, 62, and 64 were of 65, and 65 appears to be a broken upload, so I've removed them all.

Ok, I'll do it all again.
I just retried my 'paper' #50 & #65.
#57 doesn't matter -- it's the same as Lyons' upload.
The mess is probably because I didn't select 'Add another' from the page that starts with "My dear, I have something important to say to you".
Instead, I used the browser Back button to go back to the upload page and changed the name of the file I was uploading. The mystery is that I did select a different file each time for uploading.

Tonight, it's the 3 missing The Funnies (Dell) - 37, 51 & 52. All 'internet finds' (converted from cbr to cbz) & complete.
That brings up a question: can everybody get together on what's PD and what isn't? You allow complete Funnies scans, but DCM doesn't allow John Carter stories (or the ever-popular Andy Panda). In fact, in general you allow a lot more than DCM, but there's at least one big exception: Dell's Super Comics where you don't allow Dick Tracy but they do.
