Attached are some samples of a comic strip that appeared in an Argentinian comic book in the 1940s.

I've seen a lot of comic strips but this one is new to me. However to me something about the drawing style seems European rather than American...of course it's difficult to say that with any certainty. I'll keep my eyes open.

Thank you for your prompt and detailed answer.  The reason I think it might be from the U.S. is that the type of housing points there rathert than Britain.  Also, in those days, the great majority of the imported strips were from the U.S. and Italy-  Certainly, that's no assurance but one thing is for certain: the original strip was in English since some signs, such as "DUMP RUBBISH ONLY" was not translated.  Once again, thanks for your help.

This is a new one on me also and I don't think it's British - buildings just don't look right.  It's not listed in the British guide but as it's a newspaper strip, it wouldn't be unless it had been collected.  My initial reaction was that it was an original Spanish language strip as the balloons and text panels don't look as if they've been re-lettered but the "Dump Rubbish Only" sign suggests otherwise.  So, my next thought that it was a Dutch strip is oot the windae too. We're left with American origins and you'll need someone with a far greater knowledge of that countries strips than me.
If you know the creator(s) we could check on Lambiek.
Sorry I can't help more

The only thing I can add is that Americans generally don't use the word "rubbish" a lot. Much more often "trash" or "garbage" would be used. Cheers, Bowers

Garbage or waste are the terms usually used nowadays in Canada, but not sure about the 1940s. We do use the term rubbish, but it generally refers to somthing written or spoken.

Caltgelt, would you happen to have the names of any of the comics in which this strip may have appeared?  Also, now that I think about it, the use of the word "rubbish"  might just mean that the artist wasn't an American. It may, indeed, be an American strip.Cheers, Bowers
