« on: July 08, 2009, 11:56:22 AM »

Some companies and scans are not permitted on this site because they are not public domain.

* Do NOT UPLOAD any Comics PRINTED AFTER DEC. 1967 or Modern REPRINTS of GA comics

DO NOT post any scans from these companies on this site!!!

* Disney/Looney Tunes Characters
* EC Comics/Mad Magazine
* Marvel/Timely/Atlas
* Street and Smith (The Shadow, Doc Savage)
* Archie Comics (note MLJ is ok)

In addition some companies carried characters that were copyright to their respective owners. While the publishing companies own works may be acceptable stories containing certain characters are not.
Examples include: Buck Rogers, The Shadow, The Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Popeye, Little Lulu, Flash Gordon, The Green Hornet, Stuntman, Felix the Cat or any other Felix titles, Raggedy Ann and Andy, Gabby Hayes, nothing with King Features material if there are any titles with reprints - Al Capp titles - especially Li'l Abner. Any Terry Toons. Any ERB characters like Tarzan.
Please check the publisher section (especially DELL) to see if scans of these characters have been previously posted.

If you'd like to read a bit more on the subject of Copyrights and GA publishers try this link - Cash Goreman's site.

A minor note:  There are quite a few MLJ/ Archie titles allowed, but with a very few exceptions we have all the allowed books from that publisher.

Edgar Rice Burroughs characters are another big one on the "examples of forbidden books" list.

If 'Archie' is the publisher on the cover we can't use them.
I'll add Tarzan to the list, thanks Eric.

I'd be concerned about the Panther as there was an attempt to bring back the character recently.  Although the attempt failed, there were a couple of issues, I think.  Until we know more about this, perhaps better to leave it alone.
