We wanted to let everyone know that we are aware that recently, users had been experiencing difficulty downloading files, with the downloads curtailing prematurely.  We have looked at the situation and found that some users are not respecting the site's request for no simultaneous multiple downloads.

We have taken steps to bring things back to normal, which has included temporarily banning some offenders.  We ask that users download what they intend to read, rather than try to download entire collections at a session.  This kind of needless hoarding of bandwidth creates difficulties for the server, and interrupts the ability of the community of users as a whole to enjoy the offerings here.

If everyone moderates their own downloading behavior, things will remain stable, and we will not have to step in and take action against users who overload the system.
