For fans of editorial cartoons in the Bay Area, the work of Kevin Kallaugher, editorial cartoonist for the Economist (and previously for the Baltimore Sun) is on display. While not "Golden Age", KAL's style is an echo of older styles of editorial cartoons -- he is decidedly "old-fashioned", reminding me a bit of Herblock and perhaps even David Low.
The exhibition is up until mid-March, and its worth seeing just how beautifully they're executed. His work spans drawings and sketches to fully executed paintings for covers, a rather unique amalgam of "editorial cartooning" and traditional commercial illustration.
The Economist has a lot of KAL's material up on their website. Particularly interesting is a podcast in which he describes a bit of his history and technique, and his good luck in being asked to "draw Dennis Healey" (the only British politician he could draw). He also describes approaches to technique . . . worth a watch.
