I think there's no better place for those characters right now.

DC has the idea that they can take a property and REMAKE it so much better. I can not understand why they  take a property if all they want is the name. It does not make any sense to me. The actual character is nothing like the original except the name. I want to read the character that I loved not just the name. IDW does not change the characters it uses them. I look forward to their Thunder Agents

Hmmmm ... I never even knew that DC had taken its turn at mangling T.H.U.N.D.E.R. [sp] Agents, and so never saw a single panel of what must have been a supreme disaster.  I'm very glad of that, too!

Getting back to IDW and the press release:  Although IDW is the very best (in the current comics market) at staying true to the original spirit of its licensed properties, I'm just a little bit skeptical as to how they'll ever make Fight the Enemy, a product of the Vietnam War era, work in today's world.  That said, let them at it just the same!

DC has been contaminated by the Hollywood mentality - the need to get a property and promptly proceed to change the guts of it. If they have such great ideas, why don't they just do something original?

Thanks for the link Roy as this tread was where I got the initial info. While IDW may have the rights to the characters the originals were not properly copyright to they are actually PD. Many did not carry the notice on the ifc or first page where it was required at the time.

A question,
Is the fact that idw to the rights of agents thunder.
Is it possible for us to make a publicity in France without requesting to idw the license?

IDW is licensing the THUNDER AGENTS. Because of improper copyright marking on the original Tower Comics, the original stories are public domain however the Trademark was kept active so any new stories or reprints must be licensed.

I am not a lawyer and especially not international. The US required that the copyright statement be on the cover, inside front cover or first page. Tower did not do that. Most other counties were not as strict with their copyright. You would need to check French copyright law.

A discussion of the copyright status can be found here. If you want to risk it, get a lawyer.

I guess someone didn't get a lawyer, because the book is already on sale.

UPDATE: IDW must have been warned, because it's not available anymore.

IDW did Thunder agents 4 years ago 8 issues (guess it didn't sell)

IDW acquired the rights in 2004 after DC decided not re-up their licensing agreement.

A film adaptation is scheduled for release in 2018 btw
