Hey all!

I'm researching a biography of the late Nobel Laureate Oliver Smithies who said he was inspired by a comic featuring a character who was an inventor. He would have read this in the 1930s - esp 1932.

I would love it if people could provide suggestions on where to look. Professor Radium has come up as a suggestion - the original by Tom Wilkinson. It was featured in Puck and later publications. Does anyone know comics and editions/dates I should be focused on?

Open to all ideas! Thank you.

Knowing what he was awarded the NOBEL for, might help us identify the source.
Cheers.

I just checked.

I can't imagine a young, impressionable kid developing a strong desire to become an inventopr after reading E.C. Segar's "Sappo" strips featuring appearances of O.G. Wotasnozzle!   :D
