That's pretty cool! I must be honest, I didn't know the meaning of that phrase until now... but now I can see many references to its original meaning in the comic: his ancestors all look like people from a circus (there's a classic circus strongman among them) and I also found on the internet that it allegedly comes from a cry for help for a person named Reuben, just like the orphan and his ancestors.
