All very nice and, for all I know, accurate storytelling but not a patch on the wonderful but ridiculous religious tracts done by Dudley D. Watkins in those small landscape comics and colour pages.  I've posted this link previously but, as it's Watkins, it's worth pointing it out again:-

I might not appreciate the religious content of these books but the art by DDW is really rather good, as usual.

Paw, is there any way actually to see the Watkins comics? The site's images are super-small and don't enlarge when clicked.

I wish there was a way but the small landscape titles are very difficult to find nowadays and I don't know anyone who has examples I can borrow.  The style is a slightly simplified version of his normal work on Oor Wullie, while the stories are little moral, religious tales.
I'll keep looking but don't hold your breath
