During the 50s -60s the only place to watch these movies was either at the theaters during matinees or as re-runs on TV. Let's not forget that going to the movies was considered a luxury back then.
Also at the time there were "Spook Shows" held in many towns that would run several movies in double or triple+ features . "Spook Shows" were a really big event back then.
Reading about the movies plot in detail via magazine made it easier to select were your limited movie night discretionary funds went as well as keeping the horror movie fan informed about movies they have either missed or were just curious about.
