What is a "Golden Age Comic"?
« on: August 06, 2010, 09:44:11 PM »

I was just reading some old detective comics and got to thinking; What are the key characteristics of a Golden Age comic? Of course we got 'Funnies', and even reprints of newspaper comic strips that qualify as "Golden Age". But I'm talking more along the lines of the action/drama genre.
I'd submit that GAC have to have a plot that can be wrapped up in 12 pages or so. (Is that so different from a Silver Ages comic where they solved the plot in three 12 page "chapters"? I think it is.)

The Classic Silver Age of DC didn't have three 12 page chapters (except for JLA).  They had two twelve page stories (Schwartz) or 3 8 page stories (Weisinger).

Ah, the only Classic Silver Age I can recall was JLA and Teen titans. Both had three chapters but I guess TT wasn't as many pages. (And I hated TT's "groovy" dialogue, lol)
