Title: Image help
Post by: crashryan on September 09, 2020, 03:58:11 AM
Can someone please tell me how to get an online image to show up in a comment? I've seen others do it. I've tried everything I know but nothing has worked.

What I want: I talk about an image. I have the image's url. I want that image to appear, not the link.

Thanks.

I think Electricmastro might be able to help you.
I still haven't succeeded in uploading an image to CB+
One suggestion tho,

It might help to save the image to your computer as a .JPG first. and then upload it to CB+ .

I've managed that but I have endless trouble shrinking the files enough to meet the size limit. I figure that in addition to permitting larger images, a link won't take up CB+ hard drive space.

I usually get into trouble when I try to help somebody, especially when, in fact I'm unclear myself. But, hey, I can't help myself.
However I'm a little confused.

An image is not a file.
You can change a page into an image.
https://www.online-convert.com/
This link can be installed if you have Firefox as a browser.
I have recommended this app here previously.
You can install more than one browser - just nominate one as the default and they will not interfere with each other.
I have 5 on my laptop. It's very useful.

But if you are just trying to extract an image from a webpage:-

Right click on the online image, and you will have a range of options.
Choose 'Save image as' and save the image to your computer.
To resize the image do a search for 'image resizing' and you get a range of options.
Here are two
Befunky image resizer
https://www.befunky.com/features/resize-image/
and
Resizeimage.net
https://resizeimage.net/

If I've misunderstood you, my apologies. I hope that helps.
Cheers Crash!

Cool image.
Looks like a Hawker typhoon converted for the Reno Air Races.
Also reminds me of the enemy monoplane fighter shot down in the early scenes of "of Things to Come".

Always liked buildings of that era. There were a number of buildings of that style around my home town when I was a youngster.

Wow - that's good - reminded me a little of the movie Sky Captain and the Worlds of Tomorrow.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words about that image. Ever since I was a kid I've been fascinated by past views of the future, especially those from the 1930s. That's what led me to create the Crash Ryan miniseries, which I was lucky enough to sell to Marvel/Epic a couple of decades ago. I like to think Crash was in turn an influence on Sky Captain. Maybe not, but the thought is comforting. I loved that movie for its visuals but the script was disappointing. By the way, the building in my picture is based on a lovely Streamline building in San Francisco, the Maritime Museum at Aquatic Park.

Co-incidentally, just yesterday in my internet trawling, I came across the Crash Ryan Series and twigged as to your Avatar and its significance.I think I missed that first time around.

At least you had the commitment to stick with yours till you saw it in print.

Cheers!

Taking a second look that aircraft looks most like the MIG-3 of WW2.

Don't be shy - let's take a look at Crash:

I haven't read it - but it looks exactly the thing I would enjoy. I enjoyed the Sky Captain movie for the visuals, even though you have to switch your brain off a bit for the script and acting. I will enjoy it even more now I know a compadre may have had some influence on it.
