Title: Amazing-man Question?
Post by: CK Comics on December 01, 2023, 12:58:47 AM
Hello,

I am writing (or at least trying to write) comics for a Portfolio and was wondering if there was any time when Amazing-man changed personality or if there was a big gap in the chronology? I am planning for a big Captain America-type twist and needed to know if there was any point in Amazing-man could have been replaced by someone else.

Been a few years since I read the run, so my memory might be off, but I don't think there were any big gaps in the chronology. I believe one of the text stories was set a few years later than the current stories. There was a dropped plot line where his girlfriend was supposed to be given powers by the monks that never happened somewhere in the late teens or early twenties of the run. Before her kid brother got powers.

As for personality changes, well, The Great Question had some kind of psychic power over Amazing-Man that he could affect him, although the monks erased that connection around issue 11. So maybe read the stories in issues 5-11 and you might find a spot to insert a story (or set it after the run).

Be aware that DC currently have a character called Amazing Man.
He is 'a person of colour' who is a second generation 'Hero' , having inhered his father's powers, his father having been a WWII hero. Has a green shirt with a big A on his chest.
Search for Amazing Man and you will soon find him.

Oh, I found him before. Didn't know he was current though, looked like he died. Think a hyphen will fix the problem, or lack thereof?
