One of the things that always struck me about this comic strip is that Ella Cinders is drawn so stylised-cartoony, while everyone else is more or less realistic. I guess everyone in her world was too polite to tell her than her head looked like a balloon with a face drawn on it.

That changes somewhat when you read the later strips.
