Title: Former Warren writer Budd Lewis needs help
Post by: Drusilla lives! on January 18, 2011, 05:07:40 AM
Sad news from a forum on another website, thought I'd repost it here...

This makes two threads in a row I've started asking for help for someone. Just a coincidence, I hope. This one is closer to home for me.

Any of you in the Portland area may have seen today's newspaper column by Steve Duin about Budd Lewis. Budd wrote fulltime for Warren magazines from 1972 to 1983. He had over 150 stories published in Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella and 1984 and he co-created The Rook. After Warren he went to Hollywood and worked on the Terminator and Conan films and animated versions of everything from the Hulk and Battletech to Ace Ventura to Pound Puppies to Barbie.

More recently, his Hollywood work dried up and he launched a new venture here in Portland - Domo Dogs, a Japanese-fusion hot dog stand. The dogs are outstanding by all accounts; Domo Dogs were the only food-cart cuisine selected for the Chef's Table at last summer's Bite of Oregon festival.

Domo Dogs did great in the summer, but Budd hasn't been able to find a consistent location for his small portable open cart, and his opportunities to sell have been very limited in the rainy season. On December 31, his Health Dept. permits expired and he can't afford to renew them. Some local fans of Domo Dogs started a Paypal account to raise the money for the permits, and he's currently 3/4 of the way there. Let's put him over the top!

At the same time, the house he's living in is going thru foreclosure. The Hero Initiative has come thru like champs on that score, but Budd still needs help to get a sustainable business going. Right now, Budd is losing money every day (and especially every weekend) that he can't sell any hot dogs. Let's help him get his permits so he can help himself.

If you ever liked Warren magazines, or hot dogs, or if you just want to do a favor for someone who really needs it, please send a few bucks to Budd Lewis.

The Paypal address is: coinpurse3@gmail.com

Please forward or re-post this anywhere that Warren fans can be found.

Thank you.

Rob Allen
