Thanks for starting this Rez!
(I've moved it to the Comics Talk section as it seems more appropriate here.)

-----
And first up and perhaps one of the most helpful links a Golden Age fan could have...

The Keltner Index -  a MUST HAVE pdf document for all Golden-Age collectors.

http://www.twomorrows.com/alterego/media/Golden%20Age%20Index.pdf

You will need a copy of the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to view this which can be found here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

I already put this link in a sticky but it fits perfectly in this topic so what the heck.  :)

Yep, nothing wrong with a multiple listing. Helps ease the search at times.
And later on as the links build up they could be catagorized and have a brief summary of what subject matter each link contains.

Thanks for starting this Rez!

How could two links be posted already without either of them being the Grand Comics Database?  Heads are going to roll, surely...

http://www.comics.org

Obviously, there's a certain amount of overlap of information with Keltner, of course, but I don't think it's complete.

I'm not quite sure about the general utility (and might qualify as "commercial"), but a lot of people seem to like Heritage Auctions to grab cover images:

http://www.ha.com/

Alas, the forum software won't let me just search for "http," since I know darn well that lots of people have suggested good research leads.

If anybody's pursuing copyright status, these are necessary:

http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/public_domain/
http://cocatalog.loc.gov/
http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/cce/

I might also recommend the FAQ.  The scary red link might not always be at the top of the page, after all.  A scanning FAQ might not be a bad idea, either.

http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,399.0.html (also the "how to log in with lots of pictures" page--I can't find the link, though)
http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,10.0.html
http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,11.0.html

That's all that comes to mind just now.

Worse than omitting the GDC, is not taking note of Jerry Bails' indispensible on-line version of the Who's Who of American Comic Books.

YOC-
Is it possible for you to move the previous post into the # 2 post slot on this thread?
Thanks.
Title: Re: Reference Links
Post by: Yoc on December 18, 2008, 01:42:25 AM
Nope but everyone can modify their own posts so it was possible to ADD the above to the end of the First post.  You could have done it but I'd done it for you so no worry.
I think it's smarter to update there instead of having people sift through the entire thread but this is your thread so I'll leave it to you.

Take care,
-Yoc

Continuing the first posts by modifying was my original intent but after doing a number of edits I found that I was losing the highlight and thus the direct link capability in various other links when I would attempt to add a new.

And of course when correcting to replace the newly broken links I would create another broken link in a different area on the post and a chain reaction of sorts was begun.

I noticed this didn't begin till after a goodly number of links had been edited so I thought a continuation into a second page might alleviate whatever software glitch I was operating in.

be a puter novice ;D

???
That's very odd!  You're only adding to the bottom, if a link was working before there's no reason for it not to work after.
There is a total character limit of 20,000 in a post but you aren't close to that yet.

Take a look at how I added them and try to mimic that.  If all else fails I can keep on adding for you but I'm sure you'd rather learn the trick for yourself.

Alternatively, you could just make mini-posts as new things come up, then every so often create a new "major" post with everything, and delete all the redundant bits.  It's less efficient, but it might be a more comfortable workflow.

I think Rez just hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet is all JC.
I'm confident he'll figure it out in the end.

That's why I am here now lol.

Was tarting around for PD images ... bumped across GAC .. couldn't quite figure out what it was about ... bookmarked it knowing full well I'd end up making a site out of the books. BUT not realizing I'd be here now. Thought it was a REALLY awesome site! So I consider myself VERY lucky to be running it now.

The basic viewer code is from Fury Comics. It's a cool site quiet proud of it, but CB+ has the community and also I got my grubby mits on all of the books! I like the rounded corners on Fury Comics, but is a bit cramped.

Plan is a very slight makeover on CB+ just to loose the angles. We have an awful lot of 90 degrees :(

Mark .....way too funny....I kept loking at it going. dang....its a ripoff!!!! lol.....Naw can't be!!! lol....anyways as always in my wanderings I run into "interesting" sites to say the least! And this was certainly one of them. Glad to see it wasn't anything nefarious. Great look to it too! :-)

I'm fairly new here, and browsing through, found this valuable resource.
However it is badly in need of updating. Many of the links don't go anywhere. Obviously a number of the sites either don't exist anymore or have changed their addresses.
