Uploaded Blue Bolt volume 2 number 4 - I only uploaded the missing stories from this issue [Dick Cole, White Rider, Sgt Spook, etc], plus the fc and ifc. I included a text file which lists ALL of the stories for the issue in order, so if someone already had the file with Twister, Blue Bolt and Sub-Zero [which I mark as "Not Included"], they can put everything in the right sequence. If there's any problems with the file let me know and I'll try uploading again.
Scanning this issue really drove home the point of a site like Golden Age Comics and why it's important to share what we have while we still have it. This book came to me in poor condition, totally seperated from the cover and each "wrap" completely split apart. It was literally falling apart in my hands as little paper pieces fell all over the place while I scanned the stories. Luckily, the wide margins Novelty used meant that the artwork was undamaged, but it was pretty darn close on some pages.
-
I've had a couple of books like this myself before now, I guess its MORE important to get these scanned as unlike high-grade books these are the ones that are fast coming to the end of their life.
Thanks for your effort with this book.

-
I have scanned several books like this. My Amazing man books are really rough.
-
Thank you. By scanning and sharing it, your dying book will live forever.
-
The compiled book is now available to enjoy.
-
Many many thanks for the sacrifice you made bchat! It's a lovely book to look at.
And my thanks to Narf for combining the contents.

Just uploaded Thilling Comics 5 from Nedor/Better/Standard to the FTP. It was a partial issue, so the first and last stories are missing (Doc Strange and Young Smiley West).
As always, if there's any problems with the file, just give a yell and I'll try again.
-
Thanks again for the scans and uploads bchat!
Going up shortly gang.
-Yoc
-
I've got the original in fiche, so if nobody objects I could complete it.
-
Sounds good to me, thanks DM!

I THINK I have a coverless copy of this issue, guys (unless I can't read my own handwriting...). It's not on the list I sent because it was acquired after that file was last updated. If you want to wait for the next round, somebody could request it in their next batch.
-
Sure Jim.
Please feel free to update you list anytime you like. I can integrate it into the big lists later.
Say, for future reference if we are only short two or three pages any chance you could do the scan and we could add it to the incomplete book? I wouldn't want to make it a habit of course.

I uploaded Fantoman # 4 to the FTP. It's a coverless copy that's also missing the first four and last four pages of the interior. Let me know if there's any problems with the file.
I'll probably upload another book this week (have to get some other stuff done first), maybe 4 Most volume 3 number 3 or Blue Beetle 44 (minus the Bronze Man story that's already available).
-
I'd vote for the Blue Beetle #44 issue, but either one would be much appreciated. :)
-
Much great thanks and appreciations for the Fantoman now onsite
-
Thanks bchat!!
:)
I think you must have only saved the smallest version of that cover I uploaded for you.
Once the new page open in ImageShack if you keep clicking on the actual image it will increase in size until it is 100% the same as the upload. My upload was huge culled from Heritage Auctions.
Still a great book to scan - thanks again for sharing it!
:)

I couldn't get the image to appear at all, so I just copied one from either comics.org or comicbookdb (both seem to have the same image and I've had it on my pc for ages, so I forget which site I took it from). Feel free to add your cover to the file, though, because you're right, the image I have is kind of small and the quality isn't very good at all. I tried searching the net for a better picture and came-up empty-handed.
-
Hi B,
All you should have to have done is click on the thumbnail and a new page should pop open from ImageShack.
Java would have to be working and no pop-up blockers going too.
Next time I'll just post you a direct link to the Hertage cover you need.
Heritage is a great resource for cover and back covers but you have to let them have a credit card number to get at them. I was reluctant but I've never had a problem since I listed them.
I've never bought from them but they've been a great help for missing covers, movie posters, etc.
Thanks again for the scans!
Let me know if you need any other covers down the road, take care,
-Yoc

It's a little out of date, but you might want to take a look through this article, if you're in the market to replace ImageShack.
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/free-image-hosting-services/
Nothing against the service, but it always feels like I spend far too much time clicking to get at an image, what with the preview, resize, advertisement popup, and whatever else I'm forgetting. Too error-prone for anything productive, in my eyes. Oh, and don't forget the comments, which have bunches of other possibilities.
(I'd have better advice, but pictures aren't really my thing. Add that I've always had web space up somewhere, and I have never had use of any of the services beyond downloading.)
-

I have a pop-up blocker on, so that's probably what kept me from seeing the picture. I don't turn it off because I despise pop-up windows. I'll definitely let you know if I need another cover for something, although the rest of the books I have left to scan/upload at the moment are all complete.
-
Thanks JC
I'll check it out.
I've stuck with ImageShack as I like the upload widget that allows multiple uploads without much trouble. I haven't needed it in a while but it's easy to use.
I'm on Firefox so I haven't noticed the popup problems you've mentioned but yes, the need to keep clicking on an image to see it 100% is annoying.

Howdy!
I just uploaded "4 Most volume 3 number 3" to the FTP. Any problems ... blah blah blah ...
Blue Beetle 44 should be ready to go soon, and I'm hoping to get some time to scan Target vol9 n2, Heroic Comics 28 (half done) and 4 Most vol 6 n5.
-
Thanks B!
Now up gang.
:)
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Blue Beetle 44. When combined with the Bronze Man story already here (which follows the Johnny Earthquake tale) we have a complete cover-to-cover book.
Coming Soon: Target Comics vol 9 num 2 (about half-way done scanning), Heroic Comics 28 (about half-way done scanning), 4 Most Comics vol 6 num 5 (need to scan), Blue Beetle 36 (just arrived & need to scan - missing centerfold but all 3 BB stories are complete), The Beyond 14 from Ace (still waiting for it to arrive) and 4 Most vol 5 num 1 (still waiting for it to arrive - GAC already has Target story). With any luck, I'll get some time to scan this week (at least one day if not two) and finish Target & Heroic and get started with 4 Most & Blue Beetle 36.
-
And I just got the IW Human Fly which reprints Blue Beetle 44. Well now I do not need to scan it
-
Hi Narf,
I'd suggest you look at bchat's scans and your book and decide if a scan of yours would be a big improvement or not. If not I wouldn't worry about it.
Fox and Superior must have had a bet on who could print the most off-register comics and still turn a profit!
-Yoc
-
If nobody minds, I'll keep updating the "Coming Soon" section every time I upload something. That way, if someone sees a comic they're scanning or getting ready to scan, they can let me know. I don't want to take work away from anyone but I'm happy to help add to the collection, too.
-
Sounds like a great idea BC!
I wish Freddyfly would do that - I've got two issues of Fantastic Comics fiche (14+15) to edit and I don't want to waste my time on them if he's going to be posting paper.
-Yoc
-
Most of the stuff that I have no one else is likely to have
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Heroic Comics 28 - complete C2C.
Coming Soon: Target Comics vol 9 num 2 (almost done scanning), 4 Most Comics vol 6 num 5, 4 Most Comics vol 5 num 1, Blue Beetle 36 and The Beyond 14 from Ace.
Also, I should be getting Clue Comics # 5 soon. I noticed the file GAC has for this is a mix of fiche & paper. I never downloaded that file, so I don't know which parts are fiche or how blurry they look. If you guys want, I can scan the parts of the book that are currently fiche, just let me know what might need replacing or if the file is fine as is.
-
Thanks BC! Adding your scan shortly.
I just checked my file for Clue Comics 5. Only 24pgs are from paper and the scans are quite small and heavily cropped. If we could talk you into a c2c scan that would be great.
FYI the paper stories are Boy King and Twilight.
Thanks again,
-Yoc

I have no problem providing the site with a C2C scan of Clue Comics 5 since I was planning on scanning it anyway. It's something I do with all my GA books [not that I have a ton of 'em] so they don't get over-handled. The only problem with the copy I have is that the bottom corner looks to have been chewed on, but luckily it doesn't interfere with the artwork at all [must have been a very conscientious mouse].
By the way: Is it safe to assume that uploading directly to the FTP is the reason why my User CP shows "0 Uploaded"? It's not a big deal, just wondering.
-
Hi BC,
Hmm, I imagine you're right. If you wanted you could try a direct upload ([UPLOAD] link of site) but remember to check the tutorial I made on it - avoid .cbr uploads, etc and see if you user CP changes. I've never even looked at mine. Let me know if your CP is affected.

-
Looking forward to your uploads.
-
After the crash my uploads showed zero forever. I checked it after your message and it now works. Do not know the whys or whaterver.
-
I'm dying to see a c2c paper scan of Clue Comics #5 as well. It has my favorite Nightmare and Sleepy story in it. :)
-
Yep, that original Nightmare costume was a great look that still would work today.
What the heck they were thinking changing it to that lame second one I'll never figure out!
-Yoc
-
You mean you don't like the "Batman ears" and "N" on his chest? Man, that costume is AWESOME!!!
Just kidding. The first costume is absolutely perfect for a character named "Nightmare". My guess as to why they changed the costume is they wanted to have him look more like Batman OR make him more "kid friendly". Whatever the reason, it's a shame they didn't make him more "Horror-oriented" as he's perfect for that genre.
-
Instead of a Batman and Robin imitation they might have had a unique hit of their own.
-
The second Nightmare costume is darn similar to The Black Owl from Prize Comics!
Neither anything to write home about. :)
-
I look at Nightmare as a being a character ahead of his time. Had he appeared five or six years later, he might have been a huge hit.
And the Black Owl's costume isn't THAT bad. No, wait, maybe it is, although I always felt that part of a costume's appeal has been the artist drawing it. A "bad artist" can make a cool costume look horrible.
-
Absolutely BC. He was so far ahead they had to pull him back.
Costume=bad, unoriginal in any way.
Artist=not bad
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Target Comics volume 9 number 2 - complete C2C.
Coming Soon: 4 Most Comics vol 6 num 5 (started scanning), 4 Most Comics vol 5 num 1, Blue Beetle 36 (started scanning), The Beyond 14 from Ace (about half-way done scanning) and Clue Comics 5 (started scanning).
-
Now up, thanks BC!
:)
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Blue Beetle 36 from Fox - complete C2C.

-
Thanks bchat the BB is up and the rest eagerly anticipated
-
Thanks for all this stuff.
-
Well done bchat!
Thanks for sharing your scans.
:)
-
Uploaded to the FTP: The Beyond 14 from Ace - complete C2C.
Coming Soon: Black Terror 15 [GAC currently has fiche], Clue Comics 5 [about halfway done scanning], Blue Bolt Comics vol 3 num 12 [about halfway done scanning], Blue Beetle 38 [about halfway done scanning], Target Comics vol 8 num 6, 4 Most Comics vol 6 num 5, 4 Most Comics vol 5 num 1,
I should be uploading Black Terror 15 later this week.
-
Great list there BC! :D
Certainly looking forward to seeing them.
Beyond is going up now...
-
Definitely looking forward to the Black Terror 15 and Clue Comics 5 issues, BC. Thanks for all the scanning on those. :)
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Black Terror 15 (paper)
Still to Come: Clue Comics 5 [about halfway done scanning], Blue Bolt Comics vol 3 num 12 [about halfway done scanning], Blue Beetle 38 [about halfway done scanning], Target Comics vol 8 num 6, 4 Most Comics vol 6 num 5, 4 Most Comics vol 5 num 1,
If Clue Comics 5 didn't smell like a cat box I'ld be done by now [I'm allergic to cats].
-
Wow, great work BC!
Going up asap. Please check your Message area in about 10mins. Thanks.
:)
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Blue Beetle 38 cover-to-cover from Fox
-
Thanks bchat.
Not to sound like I'm complaining, we love the books you've been sharing but I'm looking at this one now and I see the scans are smaller than your others. I can add this as-is but if you had larger I think they would be welcomed.
I like to scan pages at 200% and shrink them so a page is 1000 pixels x whatever for sharing at a jpg.
Let me know what to do (there's a hanging curveball for somebody),
-Yoc
-
That reminds me (non-seasonally, alas) of the not-for-mixed-company story of how the angel ended up atop the Christmas tree. It involves an overworked Santa and said angel asking a very similar question.
-
Yoc - You're right. Looking at it again, I goofed and resized the pages smaller than I usually do. I could re-edit & re-upload, but that's going to take time I just don't have right now. It takes me over an hour via dial-up to upload a comic, and that's before taking the time to resize the scans. I can do it BUT I can't guarantee when that would happen. I am usually, quite literally, doing about three things at the same time most days, are there are other "projects" I'm working on/planning to do/need to get done. So maybe you could just add it "as is" and we can replace the file at a later date.
-
Being stuck on dial-up... I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
Certainly I'll add the book right now.
You deserve some karma for scanning and sharing this way!
Thanks!
:)
-
I think that Archiver said he had the complete run of Blue Beetle. So he might be able to help out with larger scans of #38 if he gets to that issue down the road.
Looking forward to the scanned Clue Comics #5, bchat! (sorry it smells like a cat box though)
-
RE-Uploaded to the FTP: Blue Beetle 38 cover-to-cover from Fox (again). This time, the pages are the size I normally use (about 730x1000 or thereabouts).
Regarding Clue Comics 5: I have the Zippo, Micro-Face, Twilight and text stories completely scanned. The next time I handle the book (not sure when but I'ld like to get to it soon) I plan on finishing-up the Jackie Law and Stupid Manny stories. All of that work would replace the fiche scans, leaving only the Boy King & Twilight stories for me to replace. MY QUESTION: Would you guys prefer I wait until everything is done (including BK & Twilight), or just upload my paper scans once I'm done with JL & SM, adding the others whenever I get them scanned?

Personally, I'd prefer that you waited until everything was complete. By the way, there's a Nightmare and Sleepy story in this issue, isn't there? (my favorite strip in the book) :)
-
Hi BChat,
whatever you decide is fine though there is some logic in waiting until you are complete done.
-
Whoops! I meant to type that I've scanned Zippo, Micro-Face, the text story and NIGHTMARE ("The Crooked Nine and The diamond Robberies"), not Twilight.
And yeah, I figured most people would prefer I'ld wait until completely done, but as much as I'ld like Clue Comics to have been finished three months ago, dealing with the smell is simply a huge turn-off. Every time I've been scanning stuff over the last few weeks (nothing GAC related) I think about trying to finish Clue but then remember how much of a pain it is dealing with the allergic reaction I get. I want to keep my handling time to a minimum so I'm that not torturing myself, which means it'll be a while before it's completely done.
-
Wow, that must be one nasty smelling book!
It's worth the wait though BC.
Thanks for persevering for us. :)
-Yoc
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Golden Lad 4 (no ifc, ibc, or bc). Also, I noticed that Blue Beetle 38 with larger scans hasn't been moved yet.
-
Thanks very much bchat!
Both were renamed to match the site name scheme for each (always nice when you can match ours but fixeable by mods when not) and now up on the site!
:)
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Finally done Clue Comics 5 (c2c)
-
Thanks very much bchat.
And I must say this is a superior comic gang. Some solid artwork throughout!
Expect it up on the site soon.
Great job bchat! +1 karma
:)
-
Hands down, this is my favorite issue of Clue Comics. Thanks so much for scanning and uploading it, bchat. :)
-
Uploaded to the FTP: Blue Bolt Comics volume 3 number 12.
-
Hands down, this is my favorite issue of Clue Comics. Thanks so much for scanning and uploading it, bchat. :)
Happy to do it! I was glad that it didn't cost me an arm & a leg to get my hands on it, and the personal benefit is that I never have to handle it again.
-
Blue Bolt is now ready thanks B
-
Uploaded to FTP: Phantom Lady 17 - incomplete. File only contains "The Stinging Whip" plus a cover image taken from Heritage. This isn't my scan but something I stumbled upon while surfing the 'net. Image quality is kind of poor but it's better than nothing.
-
Thanks bchat any PL is welcome now available for all.
-
Uploaded to FTP: Phantom Lady 4 from Ajax, incomplete (one story only). Another "not my scans" that I found online with a cover added from somewhere else.
I've also opened a "4shared" account containing most of the files I've uploaded to GAC (http://www.4shared.com/dir/30094199/25578b8e/sharing.html (http://www.4shared.com/dir/30094199/25578b8e/sharing.html)) just in case the site goes down again and someone wants to download some stuff.
-
Narf, could you add Bchat's PL4 to the Ajax folder please?
Thanks!
-Yoc
-
Thanks bchat for Phantom L 4 one story is better than non available for all to read
-
I believe the full book will be scanned and shared here in the future though I'm not sure when.
-Yoc
-
Uploaded to the main site: all files are incomplete comics and not a single file are my scans but stuff I grabbed from the 'net ...

plus
Supermouse Summer Holiday Issue # 1.
Charlton ...
Atomic Mouse 22
If there are any problems with the files, let me know and I'll try again.
For anyone experiencing problems downloading files from the main site, I've also uploaded these files (along with books I've previously scanned & uploaded for the site) at http://www.4shared.com/dir/30094199/25578b8e/sharing.html (http://www.4shared.com/dir/30094199/25578b8e/sharing.html). You do not need to be a registered user of 4shared to download these files. The biggest knock against 4shared that I've come across is that it makes non-registered and non-premium users wait anywhere from 10 to 45 seconds (the longest I've waited) before downloading, but what's a few seconds' wait in order to grab something for free?
-
Thanks very much bchat for the flood of Better funny animals.
All of them are now up on the site.
The 4shared links are also Very Appreciated as an alternative for those that might be unable to get them from here.
:)
-
You're welcome, Yoc. Hopefully, the 4shared links will satisfy anyone having problems until everything gets straightened-out with the site.
For whatever reason, I've taken a liking to Supermouse. I have (fingers crossed) three issues of Supermouse heading my way which I'll be scanning & uploading whenever they arrive, which will hopefully inspire me to finish-up a few other books I've been sitting on for far too long.
-
Sounds great, here's to inspiration!
;)
-
Uploaded to the site: Supermouse 5 (Better/Standard/Nedor).

Thanks for posting the link. If we have more links we can save bandwidth
I initially opened the 4shared account so that people having trouble downloading could at least get at something, even though the selection is limited to only what I've uploaded to the site. If it also helps cut-down on the site's bandwidth issues, that's cool too ... whatever I can do to help out.
-
Thanks bchat it is now onsite also

Uploaded to the main site: Cosmo Cat 3 & 8.

If you can, could you remove Atomic Mouse 26 (10.83MB)? It's a failed upload (actual size of the complete file is a little over 15MB).
All the Atomic Mouse books that I've scanned (which aren't on the site) are on the FTP (including the completed issue 26).
Also uploaded Golden Lad 004 (my scans - Spark Publications)
I'm done uploading for now, so everything in my FTP folder can be moved over to the main site.
Just pointing-out that I noticted Atomic Mouse is now in two places: the regular Charlton folder & in Silver Age Sidestreet: Charlton.
