Title: Captain China
Post by: Indywesrternfan on February 23, 2020, 11:29:30 PM
Recently found a great old comic with incredible art on the Internet Archive site. This is an 1950 movie Captain China starring John Payne and Gail Russell. It is a little hard to find. It was listed with a Bing Crosby movie comic listing. It was an old DC comic and is probably not available under public domain. I could not download it from this site. It is one of the best artwork adoptions of a forgotten lost movie that I have seen.  Check out some Classic Illustrated comics like The Black Tulip also on the Archive. Happy hunting.

Comic is  'Feature Films Presents' # 1 from DC in 1950. There were only 4 issues, 3 at least of which are on INTERNET ARCHIVE. There was another John Payne film, #3 'The Eagle and the Hawk' That is also on Internet archive. DC books are still under copyright so it's not legal to post them. Not everything INTERNET ARCHIVE postS is legal, so I don't recommend that site. I believe the art on both books is Jack Sparling, not a favorite of many fans, but surprisingly, Sparling was very good at portraiture, so an ideal artist for a movie story.
If you are interested in comics of old movies there are a couple of series on CB+.
Try this set, Fawcett Movie Comics, which will get you started.
