I'd never heard of Pick Temple so I looked him up. He was a TV cowboy / folk singer who had a popular kid's TV show, the "Giant Ranch TV Show," on a Washington, DC, station. It ran from 1948 to 1961, sponsored by the Giant Food grocery chain. The chain's in-store bakery was called Heidi's Bakery, which is why Temple says "Heidi, Pardner!"
