Eric Larson has just released issue #0 of a new Canadian Super Team.North Force I mention it here because it features the return of a character who could, without exaggeration, be described as the most unexpected Golden Age character of all. None other than Captain Tootsie!
Cheers!

Here he is:

Although Captain Tootsie surely wasn't the only hero linked to a product? There was the Milky Bar Kid and Mr Muscle for starters - David Prowse as the Green Cross Code Man, the Jolly Green Giant, the Ajax Power Man, the Honey Monster....
Strange there aren't more really - where are Coca-Cola Man, Pepsi Girl, Toyota Lad and Avon Lady? We should create a super team....

Wasn't Quake of Quake cereal turned into a superhero after a few years as a miner?
Eastern Color had a humor hero in New Heroic Comics called Vitaman, but I think he was just a parody and not a spokesman.
There were Pepsi-Cola Cop ads that ran in various comics.
Back in the '90s the Seattle Super Sonics had an advertising campaign (with art by Neal Adams) playing up the Super aspect of their name, with Shawn Kemp as Reignman, the coach as The Brain, and several other players, I can't quite remember.
There is also a more recent series of TV commercials featuring a guy in a shoddy costume hyping some financial aid service, something like 1-800-cashback.com Man (don't remember exactly what the name was, but the clunky length was part of the gag).
AAU Shuperstar - appeared in Bronze Age comics, but he had a Golden Age hero sensibilities about dealing with criminal scum... Death! ;)

North Force #0 is actually a Savage Dragon issue released under both titles. And Captain Tootsie was a guest in the latest years of the Dragon. So nothing really new. ;)
