Since Geo and OtherEric have posted pics on DCM. I figured we could have a spot just for a picture or two of each of us.

Overachieving Snard needs two monitors. That's how he gets so much done :)

Here's a pix of Other Eric and myself Geo. A couple more of your friendly scanners here.

That's actually a work picture taken a few years ago; the CRTs have given way to dual widescreen LCDs.
However... I just recently got a 2nd monitor at home :) And people who see my setup think it's odd, because I have one monitor rotated to the vertical orientation. But it turns out that's really convenient for editing scans, because I can fit an entire page on the screen.

Thanks for the pics guys keep em coming and hopefully some of the ladies here will post also. Don't leave my wife's pic as the only pretty presence.

Here's me and my better half
(http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t252/builderboy/DSCF0002.jpg)
Life has been kind to me. ;-)

Yeah ya done alright builder. BTW: how long have you been married. We have been married a little over 29 years. This has become one of my favorite threads. Makes me really want a con meeting.
-

You'd be hard-pressed to find one prettier...
Yeah, I'll admit it, I'm a bit partial...
-
Now you are just being unfair with the one upmanship Ment. She is precious.

Just had our 24th anniversary this summer, narf. Maybe comic books is the secret mortar of long lasting relationships?
(highly unlikely)
-
really nice to see pictures of you all. I must say, I am envious that OE and Geo get to hang out, and echo narf's sentiment about thinking that meeting at a con would be big fun.
-
Anyone planning on attending DragonCon over labor day? If so I would probably go. Who cares about movie stars I would rather see GAC stars. A few movie and comic stars would not hurt.
-
Georgia's just a little out of my reach these days. Looks like a wild one, though.
-
Okay, pathetic question here. How do I upload an image? I click on insert image and then what? I can't copy or paste and I see no option to select my picture.

The code would be [img*] [*/img]
Using whatever your image host is, you'd insert it: [img*]http://***[*/img] without the ***

I ran into this, too, Astaldo, and it turns out that you can only point to a URL - i.e. an image file hosted somewhere else on the Internet. I load the files onto my own server, but there are free hosting sites available.

Me and the better half at our house.

What where is the yellow face ::)
Nice pic looks like for a bunch of comic book nerds we have done pretty good in finding good looking women crazy enough to marry us.
-
My wife is always telling me how lucky I am! ;)
All kidding aside I think we did well for a bunch of geeks...
-
I will bet the chicks we thought were so hot and out of our league in high school ain't half as good looking now as what we got. Bunch of lucky guys we are.
-
But then, narf, NEITHER are We (that good looking, I mean).
Here's proof. You've all seen my portrait/avatar and some of you have seen the pics Geo took when he visited and all of my Paris pics are still available at
http://www.bpib.com/paris/Paris%20Adventure.html (http://www.bpib.com/paris/Paris%20Adventure.html)
but here are two pictures I just dug out of the attic while searching for stuff to sell on eBay. They were still in the envelope from Vince Davis with the Oct. 27. 1971 postmark. They were taken in Doug Wildey's studio the day I met him and walked out with the originals that became The Movie Cowboy. Meet Karen and Jim from 39 years ago:

So there... I really WAS young once.

Wow Jim, nice pics! I bet you can't believe how far you've come since those pictures were taken. I was only 1 year old in 1971! Doesn't that make you feel great! Just kidding :)
I can imagine how you feel when people mention the age difference. There's a kid I work with around 20 or so. I made some mention of Mork & Mindy and he had no idea what that was. I said "Nanu nanu? Shazbot?" He thought I was nuts. The realization sunk in that I've been out of high school longer than he's been alive. As much as these things somewhat bug me - getting older is not too much a big deal to me - I relish the wisdom, the memories, and the history I've seen from getting older. Remember our hobby...like the books we love we get better with age!

Yeah, it's weird. I can truthfully tell some of my friends, "I have coffee mugs older that you!"
It is especially odd dealing with REALLY young people. We help raise Karen's twin nephews, just turned 13, and it's tough when you have to explain what a "record" is - though THEY do know "shazbot". They loved Mork & Mindy. In fact, it's one of the few things they liked about the summer we took them to Paris. They had the M&M DVDs to help them through the terrible time we subjected them to.
It was a real shock unearthing those pics. And getting older is always a treat, especially when you consider the alternative...

My drivers license picture does not even look like me anymore :-\
My hair was probably about the same length as yours in '71 Jim.
Wow does Karen look like one of those pretty flower children of the time fitting the image perfectly.

That's what I was thinking Narf! cimmerian your pic from 2005 reminds of Alton Brown from Good Eats.

Hello all - I'm new to both this site and the entire "posting phenomena" so bear with me.
I am devoted golden age collector with a particular calling for superhero books all types but mostly the odd ball titles Whirlwind and the like. But my most avid collecting habit and reason for being is underwater covers of the GA. I have catalogued/indexed just over 300 books including partial underwater images. I have managed collect over half of these to date. The likes of Flash 96, Champion comics 3 and Whiz 19 are among list with many more great one.
Outside of the above my first love is for the Hulk and I have the entire run plus a sizable memorabilia collection of hulkables too.
Not to run out of interests I also have a mean collection of BLBs and Lunchboxes.
Well as soon as I figure out how to navigate and upload my pic on this site-- later.
-
Wow what a great handful. I had Incredible Hulk 102 as well as all the first issues of the TTA, ST and TOS that split. I take it you have all the Hydroman appearances. Very happy to have you join us and we would welcome any additions you could make to our site.
-
I'm narcissistic enough that I'm tempted to put my picture up, but I'm realistic enough to know that I don't take very good pictures, either in front of or behind the camera. Also, this is the internet! Are you people CRAZY? Or do you just have nothing to lose?
:o
-
Many of us are very easily identifiable from our internet presence. It would much more difficult to "find" us from our pictures.
-
Paw Broon, I thought you'd enjoy this since you're from Scotland. The Dundee Scots are from Dundee, Illinois, which is right next to Carpentersville, Illinois, where I grew up. This is an old picture ('60s), so please excuse the poor quality.
-
- The self-portrait to end all self-portraits!
-
I got this picture from Mr. Silver Age over at Captain Comics. Two of my favorite things! Too bad there's only one Beatle, but LOOKIT ALL THOSE SUPERMAN AND JIMMY OLSEN COMICS! HOW COOL IS THAT? From the movie HELP!
-
I never knew the Beatles, or at least Paul, were comic book fans
-
Gee, narf, didn't you ever hear Paul's MAGNETO AND TITANIUM MAN? It was on the VENUS AND MARS album. And on the White Album, John Lennon wrote a line about Captain Marvel ("zapped him right between the eyes" - sure sounds like the Marvel Comics version to me) in the song, "The Continuing Adventures of Bungalow Bill". I hope that helps!

Thank you, Unca Robin but where are the pipes? Probably a good idea not to have them, it can be a terrible racket to some ears.

And, of course, the Beatles were fans of Elvis, apparently another comic fan:

Wow, paw, you're right! All these years those guys have been around, you'd think I'd have noticed a thing like that! I'm not sure now if they have bagpipes or not, but I'll look into it!

I couldn't get my original comics posted on the creator owned comics page, so let's try this instead: This is the cover to CONCEITED COMICS #1

CONCEITED COMICS #1, pg 1

CONCEITED COMICS #1, pg 2
-
CONCEITED COMICS #2, cover
-
CONCEITED COMICS #2, pg 1

CONCEITED COMICS #2, pg 2
-
CONCEITED COMICS #2, pg 3 - Th-th-that's all, folks! For a full, UNCENSORED look at the rest of my stuff, go to my profile page on facebook, the photo section has albums - five albums contain a full comic in four albums, and a color page in the fifth. My facebook page is ROBIN OLSEN in CRYSTAL LAKE, ILLINOIS, U.S.A. - I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that any OTHER Robin Olsens are in Crystal Lake, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. See ya there!
-
Aw, heck, how about a BONUS PAGE? This one's in color!
-
Nice one, Unca Robin. But don't you think that with a quick swally of some spinach he could have inflated the pipes himself?
Apart from that, what's going on in your napper? We should be told.
-
Well, Paw, I can't figure out how to put all my pages together into a folder, so I uploaded them one at a time. I was told that the only page recieved was the first one, so my submission had to be deleted. That's the second time this has happened, so I give up, I'm just not computer savvy enough for submitting things to the creator owned comics. By the way, I noticed the comics here are kind of hard to read, I think the copies I have posted at Captain Comics in the photo section probably look better, I didn't have to shrink them down as much thefre as I did here. This site can be PRETTY COMPLICATED for an amateur like me sometimes!

Hey Cimm,
There's a slight resemblance to Jason Mewes of 'Jay and Silent Bob' fame in that picture of you. Nice to put a face to the legendary scanner that is Cimm!

Fun find!
I was looking through Tilliban's wonderful 50's Horror site (http://fifties-horror.de/impressum) (in German) and found THIS great photograph!
That's Tilliban on the right beside the great Jim Vadeboncoeur, Jr. (JVJ), source of so many great scans on the site!
Thanks for sharing this T!
Loved 'The Shadow' impression on the same page.
;)

A great, fun find indeed. Thanks.

Couldn't find any new(ish) pics of me and comics, so this will have to do. (Delft, Netherlands, recently(ish))
-
But this old pic is me setting up the aka display at the first Glasgow City Halls con and I can't remember the date. Actually, it looks like I've skived of and left the minions to carry on.
Modifying this to add that I think the date is 1990. After a bit of digging I found a ref to the con. That was the con where there was a major anti poll tax demonstration in George Square right outside the venue and next day, Deadline magazine erected a big cardboard tank in the square to promote Tank Girl. They hadn't realised that in 1919, English troops in tanks rolled into the square to put down a strike gathering as the authorities were worried about a Russian style revolution. The polis arrived and Deadline had to dismantle the tank.
Guests at that con included, Walt Simonson; Sergio Aragones; Trina Robbins; Charles Vess; Mike Kaluta; Steve Leialoha.
I have to thank genuine all-round good guy, Frank Plowright, as I found the info in an article of his in a recent con brochure.

Not too sure about the choice of shades, but a maestro on Photoshop that is for sure! (I don't mean your pic here ... lol ... I mean your comic book edits!!!)
-
That's a selfie. See, I do have a vague idea of modern trends ;D
Some shades!
-
Lol...... By the way Bad news guys, after some days of this snap, my shade gone dead. :(
Actually what happened...
A painter named Suchil was painting the ceiling of my room, and paint drops were falling on his eyes....
I took off my so called above popular shade and gave it to him.
Lol.... what an Idea it was
.... He ruined it within half an hour...... ha ha...

Btw,
Thanks Mark for your encouragements :) Well, Later i will post one without wearing a shade....

Enjoy all the pictures of the gang

A photo from last year. I could not find one the right size to upload and could not figure out how to reduce the file size from a current photo with Photoshop Elements... I resized but could not get down to the 128KB.

Well done meteorman. Now we want to know if your name suggests an interest in meteors or a certain obscure superhero. We wait with baited breath. ;)

Well, I needed to come up with a gamer tag for PS3 years ago and had some pretty blank moments. I am kinda fond of the C-list character from early Spider-Man The Looter (Norton Fester) who gained strength and agility from gas from a meteor. The Looter had no success whatsoever, even after a name change to the Meteor Man.
I should have actually picked Captain Comet because I really liked that old DC character.
Definitely not from the Eddy Murphy movie!!!
Below is from Wikipedia (gotta love Wikipedia!):
"The character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #36 (May 1966), and was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.[1]
The character subsequently appears in Marvel Team-Up #33-34 (May

I was young, too. This is me in 1986 at age 40:

I removed my photo from 4 years ago to avoid someone cutting out my face, blowing it up slightly, and using it for a false ID. But I left the one from 35 years ago. Let some crook pretend that young man is 75 years old!!! Anyway, no 75-year old would be silly enough to staple his head with a giant staple gun! ;D

I am Egyptian and work as a tour guide. I have a BA in Egyptology. I live in Cairo. Now I am 68 but still love comics. I have plenty.

It is nice to see someone else on this forum who likes "Funny Animal" comics!
-
Perhaps we are all hiding ;) I for instance, love some funny animal comics and strips, it's just that some of my favourites don't appeal to you. I adore the ducks and have for decades. Also the wonderful Rupert the Bear, Tom Poes, Flook, Old Boot from The Perishers. Most of those we can't host here. Robb, keep up the good work, you add so much to CB+.
-
Robb, keep up the good work, you add so much to CB+.
Agreed.
On the matter of posting an image, I have refrained. Reasoning?
Apparently if you post a usable contemporary image of yourself, Hackers can use it to create false ID using your image and name.
So, if I get round to it, it won't be a contemporary photo - oh and it will be flattering!
Cheers!

Yes, we agree on Carl Barks' Ducks, and Tom Poes. It's hard not to appreciate Barks. You, Panther, Crash, Mark, Andrew, and now Sherif all like him, too. I hope Sherif will appreciate a lot of The Sangor Studio's cartoony funny animal artwork here on CB+, if not their pedestrian stories. I'm sure none of them were ever available in Egypt. We had a lot of Egyptian Miki Mouse (Disney) comics in Den Haag used book stores. Apparently they were brought there by The Moroccan workers who have come to work there. I know there is no Moroccan Disney comic book publisher, so they must get the Egyptian publication there. My main two current work partners with Dutch Disney also moonlight for Thom Poes on both new stories, and the new drawings decorating the deluxe new oversized hardbound collection reprinting ALL the stories.

This thread seems the best place to put this link. Have a look at it and you will see why!
Cartoon(ist) Gallery
Blurb
Have you ever seen a copy of H.T. Webster's first book, 'Our Boyhood Thrills and Other Cartoons'? What about a signed copy -- or, even better, one with a full-page, colored original drawing? Or the dust wrapper to Peter Arno's 'Favorites,' or any of the three Christmas jackets that J.R. Williams used? Have you ever seen a photograph of Virgil Partch or Lawrence Lariar? Would you recognize Otto Soglow's handwriting? What was Helen Hokinson's first book?
The idea behind this gallery is to afford visitors the opportunity to see images of scarce and/or unusual books of cartoons and related ephemera, especially signed or inscribed volumes. Sure, there are common books pictured here too, but with a little exploring you may well find some interesting odds and ends that you might not be able to easily see elsewhere. Except for a few noted exceptions, the items shown behind each of the cartoonists below are in my own collection. This site is not meant to be comprehensive; if you don't see something, it's because it simply isn't currently in my collection, not because it isn't worthy.
Click on any cartoonist below to get started. I'm in the (slow) process of adding biographical information; kindly bear with me. A notation that a book is "inscribed" means that the cartoonist has autographed it to a particular person; "signed" means that book bears the cartoonist's autograph only (or some non-personalized statement like "best wishes"). There are 1269 signed or inscribed volumes currently shown below and maybe a couple of thousand that aren't. If you don't see what you're looking for, perhaps you will find it in the catch-all "Edited and Miscellaneous Volumes" folder at the bottom of the page. Fans of J.R. Williams, H.T. Webster, Helen Hokinson, Charles Addams, Peter Arno, Sam Cobean, George Price, Clare Briggs, Roz Chast, Jean-Jacques Semp?, J.N. "Ding" Darling, and Chris Ware will be in for particular treats. Have a look.
If you like books with original drawings, you might enjoy the gallery I've created collecting all of them in a single spot at the bottom of this page. There's also a gallery of original cartoon art down yonder, too. Finally, you might want to take the Identification Quiz at the bottom. Most are pretty easy, but there are a couple of stumpers.
https://secure2.pbase.com/csw62/cartoons
cheers!

Hello everyone, I come from China
