Title: Carl Burgos
Post by: Konjo on May 03, 2023, 04:49:17 AM
Can anyone recommend me some of the best reading of Carl Burgos work? I really appreciate the amateur vibe he brings to the Human Torch and, side question, i wondered if the story of Burgos creating the character during a heatwave is true? I read in a Kirby biography that Burgos created the character during a heatwave in New York (i think)

Don't know if it's his best, but I liked his Iron Skull stories from Amazing Man Comics #5 through #11, at which point I believe he left Centaur to work for Funnies Inc.

Amazing Man Comics can be found here https://comicbookplus.com/?cid=913

The Grand Comics Database list of Burgos stories, some of which can be found here, if you want to check out some of his other work. https://www.comics.org/penciller/name/burgos/sort/chrono/

Burgos also helmed Man O'War, aka The White Streak, in Target  Comics, starting here:

And this weird Sixties re-invention of Captain Marvel, here:

Hope you enjoy them!
