Title: Newspapers.com and other online newspaper databases

I have a newspapers.com subscription and I can see comic strips of all kinds on it. It is a simple matter to clip a comic and download it, then upload here, technically. What should I be aware of as far as copyright, though?

Follow up question: Even if newspapers.com is copyrighted and requires a subscription, my understanding is that the Chronicling America database is public domain, correct?
