Title: The Phantom in Germany
Post by: paw broon on January 02, 2024, 12:46:13 PM
I found the following interview from 2020 with Peter Mennigen who wrote hundreds of original Phantom tales for the German Phantom comic published by Bastei.
As I have some of the German comics in my collection, this was  a great read.

Thanks for the link, Paw.
But to me, the most interesting information, from October 2023, is that Moonstone publishing is reviving and intends to publish both Phantom and Mandrake comics again. With the state of comics today, that's good news.
What  they published back in the day  was patchy, sometimes excellent, sometimes not so much.

I don't knowwhere my head is!  I forgot that piece of info.  Thanks Panther for posting it.
Being a Phantom obsessive, I bought everything Moonstone I could find.  As you say, good in parts.  I had a couple of online very short interactions with Mr Bullock re, his Phantom work. Very interesting. He's  a real enthusiast.
Too much, can't resist.  Need to drag out my big box which is full of Moonstone comics and oversize Phantom books. And it's your fault for reminding me ;D

Excellent news, indeed! I'm also a rabid Phantom Phan and will be looking forward to seeing them. I read Mike Manley is being replaced on the Phantom daily strip for health reasons. Jeff Weigel, who I believe is the current Sunday artist, will fill in on the dailies. I think Bret Blevins, who is currently filling in on the dailies, will handle Mike's Judge Parker duties. Also, a new guy on the Flash Gordon dailies, Dan Schkade. It took me a while to get used to his style but I'm ok with it now. Anybody know anything about this guy?
And a big thanks for the link, Paw! Cheers, bowers

Phellow Phans,
