Title: Quality Comics-the name says it all!
Post by: eusephus on February 08, 2007, 06:00:55 PM
I've long been a fan of the Golden Age Quality line of comics.

I first became aware of them when DC began reprinting some of the better stories by Lou Fine and Jack Cole in their 100 page Giants during the '70's.

Reading about them in Steranko's History of Comics only further whetted my appitite for Quality.  Unfortunately, as "collectors items" most of these comics have long sat in plastic bags far from the eyes of new generations who might discover them.

Not being a person of means, I could never afford to study them as I wished, until I stumbled across this website.

Having access to large quantities of the various Quality issues through this site, I must say that I'm startled at the general  excellence of the stories and art!  Almost every issue of any given title makes me drool...

I've always loved Crandall, Fine, Cole. etc. but I find myself becoming more and more a fan of some of the lesser known artists such as Paul Gustavson.

To all involved: Thanks for dusting off these classics so the general public can enjoy them!

The Quality section of the site is my abosolute favorite!

I have fallen for Smash comics and consider it Quality's best
overall anthology title, followed by Police and National. My
mind might change if more Hit and Crack comics show up.

Agreed! Quality has the most interesting range of characters for me. Police Comics actually won me over initially, but I'm also getting into Smash as well.
