Title: Image Hosting
Post by: Roygbiv666 on January 07, 2013, 09:26:07 PM
Hi

I'm commissioning artists to do drawings, and I create image references for the obscure, PD characters. It's kind of stupid to email them. I've tried putting them on MediaFire, but people are often prompted for a login, and Servimg.Com but that doesn't seem to let me create folders, so every image requires a separate link.

I want to dump a bunch of images someplace and give people ONE link to a sub-directory. Suggestions?

Take advantage of our "creator" section and put them together in a cbz. That would be cool

You mean commissioning artwork like this attachment below? A rough drawing of SuperArgo first movie.

Yes, but they'd have to go through each page to find the one image they need. Wouldn't they?

Ahh.....got it....you want folders for each individual artist or artwork itself?

I want to put image references for obscure, PD characters someplace artists can refer to them. So, when I ask them to draw Underpants on the Outside Guy, I can just give them a link to the directory.

I guess I could put them on CAF....

Well we also have the individual hero archives. If you want to make up some archives of particular heroes that you are interested in that would work.

If the page is in a comic that we host, then the the perfect solution will appear after a Top Secret new version of the site is launched on Saturday

Hi

I guess my first post was unclear, my apologies.

I commission artists.

I want to provide them with visual references of obscure characters, like this:

(http://i15.servimg.com/u/f15/16/78/56/37/duke_o10.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=40&u=16785637)

I want to just send them a link to a directory on an image hosting service, so they can see thumbnails and pick the right one.

They aren't books, just images I pasted together in a jpg.

The image shown on the previous page is a jpg, which is what I want the artists to see. I have several references for various characters. I want to dump them in a directory and send an artist a link.

Let's say I wanted to hire Artist Guy to draw the American Crusader and Fearless Flint, I'd send him these links:
http://i15.servimg.com/u/f15/16/78/56/37/americ10.png
http://i15.servimg.com/u/f15/16/78/56/37/fearle10.jpg

If I wanted him to draw 50 characters, I'd have to sit and copy past 50 links - boring.

I just want to know if someone can recommend an image host with a publicly visible directory structure.

I have been looking myself for my own blog which I wanted to start this month but computer damages and issues have delayed that indefinitely for now. So I am just looking for alternatives for when I do go live with my new site. I will let you know how it works. I am going to jump into Mejuba this Friday on my day off. I will keep you up to date. Ok?

Speaking of Videos......wouldn't it be nice to have a Video section here for Movie serial chapters, Super Hero PD movies and the likes? Just a thought......

RB @ Work and should be doing some work.

Yes ... swerve as in move around ... the page I put the link up for is not exactly inspiring. Forgetting the words that started with "Mejuba is our attempt" ... the text formatting is not right. Not good signals

No.

Why not start a thread of your designs under the "Shameless Self Promotion" section:

*gets deja vu* Didn't I see this same topic on DCM.... :p

Anyway, as I mentioned there, imgur.com is a good site. It's free, images don't expire like they do on some sites, and it allows for "albums" (folders). It also gives you the option of uploading via web interface or by downloading progs for PC, apple, or *nix, or browser extensions for firefox & chrome.
I have webspace, which I usually use for hosting images, but I use imgur a lot for re-hosting images I find online (the browser extensions allow you to transload pics from other sites with just a couple clicks), and find it to be quite useful & reliable.

I threw together an album to test out the functionality of it: http://imgur.com/a/6Tj3y
You also get the ability to embed albums. When you embed an album in a web page, it will show the first pic, with thumbs for the rest underneath & you can view the other images in the album by clicking the thumbs. Like this: http://imgur.com/a/6Tj3y/embed

Personally I would suggest setting up a site with say godaddy .. domain name/email and hosting would cost about $5 a month.  Just ftp the stuff and over time you can make yourself a website. Plus you have a snazzy looking email.

Also, now with the new CB+ features ... you can add ANY of our comic book pages to your comicmarks .. and give them your own description. You can just then send people the link to your page.
