Hi gang,
I hope Mark is ok with this message. If it's in the wrong place please move it Mark.
I wanted to let members here that might also be members of DCM know that we are aware DCM is off-line.
Basically, one of our server drives is failing and crashing site every hour when it's put back online. All our data is backed up so we shouldn't lose anything but there will be downtime while the server company fits in a new drive and the site is restored. We are also considering an upgrade to our server storage capacity since the site is off-line anyways.
Stay tuned. Fingers crossed we aren't down too long.

At the moment the web address brings up a Lillies And Daisies bridal service.
Hopefully that's a temporary glitch.

I don't know enough about this, but, aren't the Digital Comics Museum and the former Golden Age Comics site-- now Comic Book Plus-- similar enough to make one of them redundant?

Hi DM,
I hope you were joking about posting books here. Scans are traded back and forth all the time. Neither site demands 'loyalty' or exclusivity on scanners. I've always hoped that people would upload their new scans to both sites as a regular part of the process.
I never saw the bridal service site SS mentions. Just the 404 error and today a 500 error.
We went down on a weekend so I'm not surprised it's not working yet. Patience folks. I'm confident we will be back.

Looks like the wait might be over, and damn I lost my chance of buying myself a bridal outfit! Probably wouldn't have suited me anyway ..lol

Yes, many thanks to Mark and CB+ for letting us update people.
I think this outage and those that CB+/GAC have had in the past proves there is a benefit to having both sites exist.
I also think Mark has done an amazing job to mark off his own territory of material that DCM isn't focusing on as well as adding unique new features to the site. We may be similar but each is unique in its own way.
Just my opinion,

Oh, I've just noticed FTP uploaders are not working for now. Still some bugs to sort.

I like that the two sites can work together to the benefit of both. We multiply the experience and good will not divide.

Sadly DCM has been off-line again almost all day.
No word on what is wrong or when it will be back. When I hear something I will report back.

Obviously I don't know how you have things set up, but I can ping your site, which indicates to me that the box is switched on and has life. Fingers crossed for you!

CaptDJ is aware of the outage but wont be able to do much until late Friday. The site could be down over the weekend unless we have some luck.

Yeah, I ran a trace route and it seem to be fine through half the 14 hops and then craps out...

Very silly question but I believe you are on a dedicated box has anyone tried switching it off and on again? It could just be the web server software has a problem But guess you have done that

DCM is back UP! ;D
Zog (a fellow admin) now knows what to do should we see the same symptoms again.
Mark, thanks again for letting us update here. If ever needed you are more than welcome to do the same on DCM's forum.

Hi Gang,
DCM is down again. Yet another HD failure of our server. >:(
Speed and HD upgrades are being made.
ETA on when we will be back is unknown for now. When I get more news I will let people know.

I am guessing that people have checked that the machine itself is not the culprit and trashing them? But coincidences do happen, and I guess you have just been damn unlucky.

Hi Mark,
Yeah, we thought the same and have ordered a whole new server, HD and speed upgrade. We've also upgraded our storage capacity which was getting low anyways. Next step is installing software, setting it up and copying over the site, etc. No eta on when we will be back but we have taken the first step.
Again, a huge thank-you to you Mark for letting us keep in touch here. We will be setting up a temporary forum very soon which will come up with our URL.

DCM seems to be down again. :(

The forum needed a tweak.
It's now running again.
The move to the new server is on going so there might be the odd outage like this for the next little while.

Hi Gang,
It's been a long time since I needed to update here. A nice ride while it lasted.
Unfortunately DCM is currently experiencing a server problem. We've been in contact with our provider and are working towards a fix. The Facebook page is still up for updates as well.
