Title: Alan Class Comics Public Domain ?
Post by: comandergood on August 18, 2008, 04:14:43 PM
I recently found a copy of "Strange Suspense Stories Uncanny Tales # 135" from Alan Class publishing. I have a feeling they are not in the public domain but could not find out for sure. Does any one here know? Thanks in advance for any info..

Class reprinted the same stuff over and over again right into the early 70's and much of what he used would be off limits here in anycase:

Atlas/Marvel, Tower, Archie/Mighty.

Some stuff of his that we might be able to use would be the earlier Charlton and ACG Material but then again if we already have the original stories in colour why bother ?

Also as these books were printed and published in the United Kingdom stricter copyright rules could apply, might be opening a can of worms here IMO.

They did get sued by King Features Syndicate sometime between 1968 to 1971 over publishing rights too.

Uncanny Tales would not be classed as Golden Age even though they might reprint some of the old stories from various publishers, so we would be unable to host them. Only very early British material will be allowed on the site.
