Centaur Comics The Shark (Amazing Man Comics) predates Namor.

I know there are other underwater characters, but I'm drawing a blank on their names at the moment. (Barry Cuda?)

Bill Everett also created a character called Hydroman. I don't recollect how many adventures he had, but actually he was water. Could turn his body into water. There were a few scuba-diving comics when that was new, check out Dell for 'Frogmen' and 'SeaHumt'. DC had Sea Devils, but that's not on this site. Then if you want Comics about Submarines, There are a few of those too. Try the Dell Listings again.

NEPTINA, Queen of the Deep is in CHAMPION (later CHAMP) COMICS from issue #2 through 17. It's a serialized story, mostly told in 6-page (later, 8-page) chapters. All of it is here, except for issue #10, I think. Not a superhero story per se; it might be best described as an subsea science-fantasy series, sort of a cross between Namor and Sheena(?), with a large dollop of Flash Gordon thrown in. Most of the story takes place underwater.

"Maureen Marine" appeared in Croydon/Rural Home's Blue Circle comics. Like most Golden Age underwater characters she isn't a superhero per se (breathes underwater and rides giant turtles). She is a surface girl rescued from drowning by Father Neptune, who gives her the power to breathe underwater and chooses her as the successor to the dying Queen of Atlantis. Nice art by Harold DeLay.

Rex, King of the Deep (guy in a sub) seems to start in Dell's The Funnies #37 (but we don't have scans of the 30's, 40's and half of the 50's for that series) and runs to 60.

Under UK Comic Books, publisher Soloway, All Star Comic v2 #3 - v4 #3 is Argo Under the Ocean.

Well done SuperScrounge, I'd forgotten Argo.  And you get Nat Brand art.

Not sure if this one has been mentioned, it's a bit obscure.  Seadragon was a short series from Elite Comics around 1986.  Obviously we don't have it here but it's available cheaply at a number of comic shops.

Since everyone else seems to be mentioning stuff that isn't actually on CB+, I guess I'll throw in my 2 cents as well. Aquaria was a backup feature about a mermaid superhero that ran in fairly recent issues of SAVAGE DRAGON, #215-216 & 229-232. I might have missed some, too.

If you've got money to burn and like classy material by classic Golden Age artists, Marvel just solicted a 864-page omnibus hardcover collection of the complete Pre-War Sub-Mariner stories, which includes every story Bill Everett drew until he was drafted. It'll set you back though... SRP is $150 USD. (JMO, but well worth it.)

Solicitation is here, if you're interested. https://www.previewsworld.com/Catalog/MAR190994

As Matropolis asks for "Heroes" - not necessarily superheroes, one of the very best is one we have here, Mike Nelson in Sea Hunt.  Good stories and excellent art:-

Paw broon's mention of SEA HUNT really made me think that there exists an entire small subgenre of SCUBA-diver comics. A similar TV series, THE AQUANAUTS, was featured in Dell Four Color 1197, and also the kids' show DIVER DAN in Dell Four Color 1254. DC of course had SEA DEVILS, Tower Comics had UNDERSEA AGENT, Hillman had FROGMAN Comics, Dell had THE FROGMEN, and Avon had FIGHTING UNDERSEA COMMANDOS.

The latter underwater war setting leads us into the related subgenre of submariner (not to be confused with Sub-Mariner) comics... ACG had COMMANDER BATTLE AND THE ATOMIC SUB, Gold Key/Western had VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA based on Irwin Allen's TV show (preceded by an issue adapting the movie starring Walter Pidgeon), while Dell (by now split with Western) countered with its own short-lived VOYAGE TO THE DEEP (with some nice Sam Glanzman art, these were recently reprinted in an IDW hardcover collection) -- which Gold Key counterattacked by launching CAPTAIN VENTURE AND THE LAND BENEATH THE SEA. Charlton had the amazingly long-running (44 issues) SUBMARINE ATTACK.

Centaur had a series called Air-Sub DX which I think had some undersea stories. Been a while since I read it so I'm not sure. According to the GCD it ran in Amazing Mystery Funnies v2 #3 to #8 with some reprints in the next issue, Amazing Adventure Funnies #1, and Fantoman #2.

While they can't be hosted here in the '80s Malibu revived a bunch of Centaur heroes as The Protectors and I think The Shark did make some appearances, but renamed the Thresher. Haven't read them myself.

Yes he is, or was.  There are a lot of characters and heroes which were created for British comics who are virtually unknown in other countries.  Actually, most British people won't be aware of them nowadays.
I have to add that a good number of characters were written and/or drawn by non-British talent. And British publishers weren't averse to using foreign strips in their comics, lots of American reprints, but also, for example, the Dutch strips, The Red Knight ( De Rode Ridder) and Kapitein Rob, an absolutely classic strip drawn by Pieter Kuhn.

Was a six issue run IIRC, drawn or at least inked by F. Newton ("Butch" as he went by then) Burcham. Was not anything to blow anyone away (I think it was written by Tom Floyd or some such but I am too lazy to dig out those issues to check). Was full color, as most of Elite's books were early on and that company never had great coloring for the most part. Character looked like the creature from the black lagoon had taken up a pitchfork/trident.

Searching for something else entirely, came across Avon's 'Fighting Undersea Commandos' 5 issues in total.
find it here

I'm sure there are others that fit this Category on CB+ too.
