What you say is sadly true.  However those first few shows weren't awful yet.  The unaired pilot was really decent.  I believe it was on the boxed set's first disc.

LIS was great for a ten year old. It had enough variety even in its crazyness to be better than Batman

Lost in Space.  That first season had me spellbound.  Then I discovered the Gold Key comics which I actually liked more.  In addition to a lot of adaptations of TV shows, Gold Key really blew me away.  Turok, Space Family Robinson, Mighty Samson, Magnus, and my all-time favorite, Brain Boy.

Ah, good times.

I've read a couple issues of MIGHTY SAMPSON - it's really a good GK title.

I must have been just the right age (5 in 1967) when I found the Batman TV series. I hadn't read any of the comics at that time. I only had one Road Runner comic book

I was completely into the show and didn't understand it wasn't serious- I only figured that out much later. Had the same problem with The Avengers.

I went through 3 Corgi Batmobiles, one with a Batboat.

I wanted to be Batman for Halloween that year and my Mom didn't do store bought costumes, so she made it for me. Only one problem- we had a black and white TV. So, to me, Batman was black and gray, not black and blue. So, I was a black and gray Batman. This would come back to haunt me again when I decided to be the Cookie Monster the following year. Yes, I was gray and had no idea the Cookie Monster was blue and neither did my Mom. Unfortunately, a lot of other kids did.

I loved that series and can still laugh at it. The colors, the biffs, pows & wams, the crooked crooks hideouts, the way Adam West delivered his lines like he was holding in a poop half the time, it's all great silly fun.

I've read a lot of pretty good, funny comments on this site, but this is the first one that made me laugh out-loud.

It's almost like he's parodying the way Clayton Moore spoke in the early "Lone Ranger" episodes.

Batman's costume was black and gray, at least originally.  The blue color was added as a highlight color on the black cape and cowl.  Eventually it became more and more blue.

I often felt Batman's TV Costume was a good take on the 1950's comic one.

Overall, the BATMAN series owes ALOT to the 1950's Batman comics in look and feel.

I watched it and I was older than 10.
Saw the movie too.
I even had one of my grandmothers save me Batman milk cartons during the craze.
(I didn't keep 'em.)
Best,
Bob

The only Batman costume I had was those cheesy ones from the '70's. It was a Halloween costume with the cheesecloth like plastic uniform and the plastic mask with an elastic so strong it cut the circulation off.

That's so funny! I remember the old "Crazy Foam" characters that were out. I had Batman and spiderman and it looked like they were throwing up.

The biggest issue I think I see with the Batman water pistol above is the location where one would fill up the caped crusader with water. Ouch? This couldn't have been on the shelves for long, any background on what year this came out?
