This made me think along the same lines Janus. We could have a fan story/character pages include stuff like M's 8 page redo. Those would not require artists. We could also test Trademark. Trademark must be used and defended. Therefore the Dell, Milson, Fass characters that it is unsure where the copyrights might be could be used prominently featured and if no one complains they have not defended trademark. If they do not defend the trademark then it is highly unlikely the copyright would be a problem. From what I read about trademark they would just give a cease and desist and would have to prove loss of image or profit to go any further and since these are unused characters that would not be the case

Interesting point, but someone would have to be assigned to contact the parties involved, who may not notice this tiny corner of the web testing their boundaries.

Marconero redid the text in The Scarab to make The Termite. It was pretty funny. It would definitely get people involved with the site.

I have a character database section in the works, (remember this is my hobby not my job :) so I am happy there would be interest. I have ideas on interesting products we could make for fundraisers here. However, I will keep you all in suspense, however, please do discuss.

I have long been in favor of a character database and started a file section on my computer with characters. We do have some archives of characters. I would like the database to include the origin story if possible if not a representative story or two with a fact file

Origin stories definitely. When I found out what it is for a particular character, I try to find it. Notable events, like the death of Meatball or The Comet would be important as well.

Narf, isn't that what the Public Domain Superhero website is?  Or do you mean making files of their actual adventures, listed by characters rather than comic book titles?

That would be a good idea. Sometimes I think about some specific character I read that I want more of but can't remember where it was.
