When it comes to X-Men the question for me is who cares. I gave up on them long ago when they were thought dead and some guy spun a string and transported them places. The over kill by Marvel killed the title for me. Now the SA stuff is still fun.

I like the concept of the X-Men -- I read some of the issues back in the day and was one of those who was all over the "NEW X-Men" ... but today I feel sorry for those who cannot break the X-Men habit. Have you seen how many titles there are in the X-Men stable? I think 20 specific X-Men related titles is a conservative estimate. OY!  :o :o :o

When i was buying comics, I had X-Men, X-Force, Wolverine, 20 titles, is there a title for every character now?
I remember - and I am Canadian - Alpha Flight! I think they no longer run the series...its a shame. I always liked some of the unique characters like Shaman, North Star, Puck, an Box!

Who cares? Gave up long ago and don't want to start again.
And, last Sat. I went to a wee comic mart in Glasgow and bought a few early 60's Action comics, H.o.M #145, Challs. #77 (Kirby reprint) plus a few issues of the new Zorro title that I was missing.  Not a Marvel in that lot, and apart from the Zorro issues, all S.A. Thoroughly enjoyed reading them again.  I do get a bit downhearted when I see all those multiple covers, crossovers and extended stories.  It's not confusing, just annoying and cynical. And not only Marvel.  Sorry, rant over.

No worries, I guess, this sort of adds to amount of X-titles there are, and that fact that maybe Marvel is over doing this a bit.....I mean we now have -----

X-WOMEN!!!

(one shot only - but who knows?) how about X-Boys, X-Girls, X-Babies.... ::)

It'd better be Cable, but evidence strongly suggests it's Nightcrawler (because no one knows what to do with him) or Emma Frost (so that Scott and Jean can get back together).

I'll Admit I've heard of Cable (he's from the future or alternate timeline something right?).  I have no idea who Emma Frost is -- maybe Robert Frost's mother? wife, sister?

Night crawler is the teleporter, correct?  That wold seem to be a quite interesting and almost unique power -- I'd think he would be a much better character to keep around than yet another tough guy.

Nightcrawler was very popular at one time and was in the latest movie. Probably will not kill off a movie characater. Both Cable and Emma Frost have had their own books so were popular but fame is fleeting.
Other than the movies I have no interest in any Marvel books SO KILL EM ALL ::)

Not that I'm invested or anything, but I kinda like Nightcrawler, I hope it's not him.Teleporting is such a cool power. When I was younger, I would often choose it as my favored ability in famous "what super power would you take" conversations.

Today, it's super strength. ;D

Oh, and his european accent, it's a killer. :)

Everyone's still stunned by that rotten origin Chuck Austen tried to give him.

Nightcrawler or Cable Jedi? I could care less about Cable but I did like Nightcrawler back in the day. It has probably been over 20years since I read the Xmen

I stopped buying Marvel Comics in 1996, narf,
in protest of their destruction of the competitive distribution system. Just like in 1957, when they tried to increase their profits via distributors, they almost destroyed themselves - again. Yes, they survived, revived and rebounded, but in the process all the major companies went "exclusive" with Diamond and now we only have one comics distributor. It's a monopoly that dictates to the market and we'll NEVER have a small, independent comics revival because DCD won't even list a newcomer unless they can sell $2500 worth of books at WHOLESALE. And that's about 1800 copies of a $3.50 comic book. How many new, untested comics are going to incite that kind of sales without a major promotional ad in Previews.

Not many of the 1990's titles were truly memorable, but a whole lot of artists cut their professional teeth on them. Those days are gone forever and Marvel is directly to blame. Ask me if I care which (or even IF) some X-Man is going to die...

Peace, Jim (|:{>

I used to buy all the new Marvel books when they came out. Then they started expanding them. I couldn't keep up anymore. Maybe the mimic came back again to impersonate someone so they can kill him. The first character that died when I was reading comics was Captain Marvel. I thought it interesting how it was cancer that did him in. At any rate, I read some old Captain Marvel books and he was alive again.
It's like in the episode of Friends when they ask Chandler if he cried when Bambi's mother was killed. His reply; "Yes, I was very upset when the man stopped drawing!"

There seems to be two diametrically opposed results of the grand Marvel expansion, Astaldo.
1. A whole lot of "Marvel Zombies" gave up the "completist" notion.
2. A whole not of new "Marvel Zombies" jumped on board since they could now afford an X-Men or Spider-Man #1 (of a sort).

From the success of the company since then, I guess the original MZ's were outnumbered by the newly dead.

I've got X-men, Avengers, Hulk, Spider-Man and Captain America on DVD. It takes each series from the first issue to between 2004-2006. I'm going through them and that's it. I'm not buying any new comics. I have plenty to keep me busy without adding to the bank accounts of the CEO's of Marvel. I'll always be a fan of Marvel as it's the company I started with when I began reading comics. It just seems like they take every story line that COULD be contained in one series and branch it out into every title they have, forcing fans to buy everything.

I think for every one of us with those attitudes, Astaldo, there are two who think the "complexity" (and length) of the "story" is what makes it good.

I love the Marvel Comics that I started with, too, but have zero appreciation for the bloated, convoluted behemoth of today. But you and I don't count. If you're older than twenty-five, Marvel isn't concerned about your opinion or your four bucks. They'd like to have them, for sure, but the comics simply aren't intended for you or for your level of critical analysis. Personally, I'm surprised that you've managed to digest the stories after about 1985.

Long live books.

I may glance inside a Marvel comic while at my LCS. I see nothing inside that makes me want to buy. The last Marvel I bought was the American Dream mini series. She is Caps daughter in the alternate NEXT universe. I enjoyed those titles as retro back to the good old days. Really liked Avengers Next and enjoyed J2 and Spider Girl was OK

That's the other thing that annoyed me. They tapped as many characters as they could so they create an unlimited number of alternate universes, alternate time lines, possible futures, etc.

Infinite alternate universe is a concept that I DESPISE. Whether in be in comics, movies or TV. I hated it when Star Trek did it. It makes absolutely nothing matter. For every decision you make you made the other so there is not point to anything. I HATE IT, i HATE IT, I HATE IT!!!
