Mutants & Masterminds : New Edition (RPG)
« on: July 13, 2010, 03:45:32 AM »

Mutants & Masterminds , the superhero pencil & paper RPG, has come out with a third edition and licensed materials from DC Comics.  8)

Now, will Marvel try and compete again (Marvel did last time in the "RPG Golden Age"/80s with a licensed game by TSR, makers of none other then the most popular pencil & paper RPG Dungeons & Dragons.)

I think I have that Marvel Golden Age squirreled away in my archives. Wasn't there a DC/Red Circle one of sorts, or am I hallucinating?  ;D

...you brought back some gaming memories!

The only licensed DC RPG I can remember is the old Mayfair Games line. Which came out a bit before the Crises of Infinite Retcons, er I mean Earths.

I'm still hoping the Savage Worlds RPG (pulp fiction era rpg with strong emphasis on Lost World type settings) comes out with a Superhero adaptation. That would be great for a Phantom type game.

P.S. Glad to see you have great gaming memories. I was hoping I hadn't gone too far out on a limb with this thread, lol

Okay, did some net-digging. Red Circle is still under license by DC so they may appear in the M&M:3rd Edition. I would love to see that as the Shield is one of my all time favs.

The Authority (a side project of DC comics which totally abandons Golden Age traditions) was licensed to Guardians of Order out of Canada for their Silver Age Sentinels game. While I played and enjoyed SAS I do not particularly advocate The Authority to any GA comics fan.
